Senryu's I thought were supposed to be humorous or satirical but because of the nature of the topic and it is a holiday and human nature-oriented you have done a suite of senryu and stuck to the 5-7-5 formats well. I would give this my virtual six as I don't have a six in my coffer to offer. I did enjoy the full meaning and your message in your well-crafted poem Darren! I think that this could even become a poster that we had year round for the vets! Peace be with you too! Blessings & Cheers, Fonda

This lovely, moving poem appeals to the very heart of citizens of the United States. We are blessed beyond measure--but often unaware of this fact! We must remember what this day means and teach it to our young ones.

Like your thoughts and expressions! It really brought home the price we paid for freedom when I saw the graves on Okinawa, Tarara, Quadulain.
Brave men who gave all for us to have what we have today. So many people do not appreciate the sacrifice of our service people and want to change all this for some outlandish way of life that has failed everywhere it was tried.
Your last line was touching, so pertinent on this day!

Thanks ever so I'm so glad that you saw the connection and the delicate balance that puts us in as we seem to be more divided now is a country than we have ever been before. I don't believe we'll ever be United again.

A Beautfully sauve dedication to celebrate the day the armed forces celebrate past and present men and women on this day Darren, beautifully written my friend, although they're probably senryu, as haiku ate centred on nature, well done Darren, blessings, Roy

A very well-written haiku suite about memorial day and in remembrance of the soldiers who fought for their country and give the residents a chance to a life of freedom.

Beautiful poetry to remind us of what we enjoy as freedom and how others fight for those. Altruism is the highest price paid by the military members, male and female. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Hugs, Trisha

What a true statement: "It should not matter
whether you are left or right...This is a very nice tribute to all those who did not come home. One of my classmates died in Vietnam. He was a wonderful kid and that all he ever got to be...a kid. I was thinking the other day. He is not here with us in his seventies. Thank you.

Thank you for your timely and wonderful message, Darren! Good to see you again. And may you be blessed as you remember our country's blessings and for those brave men and women who sacrificed for our freedoms. So glad you exhort us to unity!
My favorite lines were:
"Let us be thankful
tomorrow is not promised
yesterday is gone"

Thank you so much for your wonderful review, and for sharing what your favorite line is. As I was inspired in writing this today, I was skeptical about that line but I'm glad that it worked and struck a chord in your heart.
It's always an honor and a pleasure to write what you here.
Blessings and Happy Memorial Day
