quirley, I wonder how many know what a quirley is, I have no idea. Cigar, cigarette? Just a thought.
Good imagery in this chapter Larry. I believe Levi is correct about the bluffs and his call for lights ou a good move, but that will enable those convicts with the key to make their move, even pass the key along to the other prisoners. Lets hope the empty saddle means a guard has taken out one of the riders and he isn't on the train. Well done! Exciting! Nancy:)

Thank you Nancy. A quirley is a cigarette that is "Tayler-made" or rolled by hand.

This western certainly is packed with excitement. It is well written in that the descriptions are portrayed in an interesting manner. I grew up reading westerns and this sure fits in with my favorites.

fmwright, thank you very much for your kind review. I have always enjoyed reading westerns as well, but there are so many "romantic westerns" today, and while there is a place for those books, I prefer something a little rougher around the edges.

I grew up on Louis L'Mour and Zane Gray. So I can appreciate those type of westerns. So thank you for writing them. Also, you are welcome!

Even though I haven't read previous chapters, it was easy to fall right in and read this one. Your dialogue and descriptions flow well, and held my interest throughout the chapter. I didn't see any edits needed. I bet this is a popular book with anyone who enjoys Westerns.
All the best,
Jan
