I love this glimpse into a powerful life moment between Bill and his grandmother. It gives us a sense of intimacy between the family members. As a reader, nothing is more enjoyable than a moment of connection- even in 75 words or less. Well done. Thank you for sharing.

Nice. Grandmas are the best. I'm one myself and I hope my grandkids think so, too. Your little story is reminiscent of those special moments to share. Marilyn

I feel like this story is a little flat. It's not descriptive. I would like it better if it wasn't so straightforward, though it might be hard in 75 words. I like how the grandmother tells stories, and I think that it would be better to focus on that with less of the buildup. Have a blessed day!

My grandmother. Was a charmer. Old world, but always a positive word. A great cook including desserts. Good job with only 50 words. No edits or adjustments necessary.

Even better than telling your children and grandchildren the stories of your life is having them ask you to tell them. Then you know for certain they are listening. You made a very good point. Good luck in your contest!!

Good job on this piece, I like the theme you chose for this contest. One suggestion would be the punctuation here:
He believes her; what she is saying is to have a sense of humor.
A semicolon might be better than a comma for that sentence. Otherwise good job, and best of luck on the contest

Thanks for sharing this story in a flash fiction form. I'm guessing you had a good grandmother who inspired this writing. I'm guessing she was generous with the sweets. Have a great day!

I became a little emotional when I saw the title. I was reared by my grandmother and we had those talks all the time. I received orders for Vietnam and was home preparing to leave and we were having a talk at the kitchen table. It was our last talk.
Thank you for that story.
