In my opinion, a fun write, naming a number of cowboy characters, and in rhyming narration, smoothly rendered - complies with the prompt in its clever characterizations - best of luck in the contest...

Your well-written poem makes effective use of numerous examples to
convey your theme about Old West gunslingers. We often see romanticized
accounts in the movies--then are shocked when we read the truth about them.

This was marvelously made, the details and inclusion of cowboy heroes is over the top fantastic. Thank you for this piece of art and poetry. I am satisfied now (lol)

You covered a lot of old cowboys in this poem. They certainly live on in history. Some still admire them, others think of them as villains. Most have a really good story behind their quick draw. I enjoyed this poem, it is an excellent contest entry. Well done and good luck. :)) Sandra x

Well now we know, because you sure know your history when it comes to Western gun shooters and who they were. You have portrayed them in a well flowing interesting manner. Hopefully this will be recognized and you will be a winner. Good Luck.

How very fun to see a rhythm that contained all of those names from the old Hollywood Westerns and the books that lined the history shelves in the 'Young Adult Readers' section when we were young! ;) ;) So glad to read that you had fun writing it as well -- would make a good addition to education supplies for elementary teachers when they have their 'Western Unit of Study' for their classes! ;) ;) Thanx for sharing and best of luck at the polls! :)

All the real cowboys and girls mentioned here in your cowboy poem. A great tribute and I wish you luck with the contest, I didn't realise there were so many famous names in the cowboy world! best wishes, love Dolly x

I find this solid rhyme to be an interesting cowboy story,
Covering many of the bad-ass characters of the era.
The photo-art selection is well complementing.
Looks like a promising writing prompt entry, best wishes.

Well, you've run the gamut pretty well.
From your list, I'd rate John Hardin as the scariest of the bunch--unpredictable as a snake. Wyatt Earp had no qualms.
Doc had nothing to lose--but he was skilled.
Wild Bill might have been the best--'til his eyes went.
I'm guessing there are names that haven't been glorified.
But what do I know?

Best of luck at the polls.

Peace, Lee

Awesome! This is a poem I wish that I had written. This style of poem is one of my favorite types and sadly not many appear on the site. To some it might seem easy to write, but do not be fooled, this type of poem requires a certain amount of skill. You clearly have that skill and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
