It's very kind of you to consider the age of this dear child, and paint an image that she understands, I praise God, that I have grandchildren to witness what He adores, no prejudice, no agenda, just hope. A beautifully written work dear Pam, close to my heart, well done, blessings, Roy

I'm not computer savy, but I couldn't get the link to bring me to your other Unicorn....God Bless You for seeing what she wanted and painting another one...this one is pretty impressive I think! --Karenina

In my opinion, a worthy write, although it appears forced in the rhyme - a bit uneven, requiring some attention in smoothing the flow of the narrative...

Well there you go - a unicorn should have a rainbow. I like this one too. Colorful is what children want I believe. I remember a painting one son did he hung it in his room - it was a cat with a striped tail. "A poisonous cat" he said. Another time one of his little friend was painting God. "But no one knows what God looks like" -
Answer: "They will when I am done painting this".

How fun.

What a great message to all writers and artists - to listen for what our audience wants. I like both your paintings - certainly, this one is more colorful and has more action. The other one was calming. Still, you might want to ask her what unicorns look like and it could be that she feels unicorns are always white and with a gold horn and the unicorn is a banner over it. That's typically how they show unicorns and we all get used to a kind of standard model.

A very well-written poem about the rainbow unicorn that did not impressed the little girl as much as it does the adults. It is hard to do something artistic for somdone else.

This is a very nice painting you did to go with your poem you did about the rainbow unicorn for the little four year old. I guess the older we gets the more different we see things. Little children can be pretty specific. I know our five year old grandson is. lovely work. love and blessings, Teri

I'm assuming the little girl is your granddaughter. She's lucky to have such a talented and loving grandma. The poem and painting are very sweet, and the writing reads smoothly and rhymes nicely. As far as which of you will feel more blessed, it'll be pretty close but, as the grandma (if my assumption is correct), I think you'll edge just a little bit ahead.

Shades of Hans Holbein, commissioned to paint Ann of Cleves by Henry VIII. He painted her as if she was gorgeous. Henry was impressed and sent over to Germany for her to join him as his 4th wife. When he met her he was disgusted as she was at best plain and at worst plain ugly. I imagine Holbein had skedaddle back to Germany by this time.

With kids the customer must come first with adults they should get what you choose to give them.

As they say, the customer is always right! I do prefer your original version of the rainbow unicorn, but I can see how a young girl would like the second one. Your poem is spot on. Captures the wonder of childhood that we all should keep within ourselves to keep the heart young and joyful. Thanks for sharing the artwork, the poetry and the story behind it all!
