Dear Mystery Poet,

Well written poem about the current state of our glaciers. I liked this post especially because you backed it up with evidence and facts. So many people spout off without even knowing what they're talking about.

This poem also spoke to me because of some of the beautiful and poignant language you used:
--> time marches backwards flows at a glacial pace
--> Iced in beauty frozen in mind
--> our cake has been eaten
--> splendour now mud

This kind of verbiage brings the matter even closer to heart. Thanks a bunch and much good luck to you in the voting!

They spout off ignorantly or they stay silent ignorantly without finding out. I love being in the natural environment but it is getting more and more degraded.
    Thanks for your thorough review.

This nonet and reverse nonet tell us that man/government has slowly ruined our Earth and that global warming is erasing our icecaps. But this year it has seems like we are returning to the ice age.

Good luck and keep writing

Syllable count doesn't make it a nonet... I was trying to make it look like an egg timer shape thing, to show that time is running out.
    Weather is so confusing.

Sorry, I didn't even count.I was lazy. It does look like an egg times. You are right about weather.

This is an excellent poem, composed in a difficult form, while delivering a crucial, cautionary message, that must be kept alive.

It's essential that we pressure our lawmakers and schools to do their parts to fight global warming, for the survival of future generations.

Thanks for your nice review. You are right about keeping the pressure on... it is so short-sighted to not be prioritising attention to global environmental concerns.

Day by day glaciers across the world have been shrinking and receding and lowering the sea level; well said, well done. Write to inspire, change -- DR ALCREATOR

I finally found this. I wrote a nice thorough review then hit the wrong button and poof it was gone. I just hunted around & found all of the poems to be read. I will see how much I can recall. First of all the picture you have chosen is very powerful. It fulfills the phrase "A picture is worth a thousand words. This poem is a cautionary tale for sure. It is good that you leave the cause for the melting glaciers open to interpretation. After all, this is a topic and poem for discussion. I have read a great book written by Kathleen ONeal Gear and Michael Gear called People of the Nightland. They are both archaeologists and write historical fiction based on digs and research. In the book of which I speak they wrote about the 5th global warming which happened approximately 13,000 years ago. The story they write is based on that global warming. They introduce the story with factual information about the previous global warmings. I found that fascinating. This leaves my opinions regarding this topic up in the air. This poem is well written. The cadence effects the frenzied mind attempting to figure things out and to determine if there is anything which can be done. Primary in this whole poem is the effect politics has on all of it. I'm glad you not so subtly. addressed. This is well thoughout. I have o give you A+

Isn't it frustrating when that happens!! I have lost reviews sometimes too. Thanks so much for this amazingly thorough and complimentary review. People of the Nightland sounds like a book well worth reading. I hate the degradation that is happening to all aspects of our environment, usually politically and economically based.

The very 1st book is called People of the Wolf. It's the story of the Native Americans who came across the landbridge. They were on the other side of the glaciers and had to come through openings under the ice. The 2nd one is about after they get on the warmer side and what begins to develop. The other fascinating thing is how they dicovered what may have happened archaeologically. They found skeletons strewn ain erratic patterns. Finally they realized tracing the climate changes which took place 14,000 years ago, that it was great waters which tossed these people's bodies in such disarray

This was very well written! Easy to follow and understand what idea you were portraying. It is getting worrisome about the changing weather, whether it's thought of global warming or not. I, myself, believe that not matter what the weather patterns are going to change, because it has always changed and each change has brought change to humans who live here. Such as the Ice Age and that being a way for different animals or people were able to move from one place to another.

I think climate change is inevitable too, but humans should be able to have an impact on slowing global warming, with limiting toxic waste and other pollution and cutting down forests quicker than they are planting more trees for instance. Overpopulation is the main problem: there's just too many of us. That's why there is so much mass-migration these days... it's like the herds are moving to better pastures, but the people who live on those better pastures don't want to share. (That's easy for me to say. tucked away down here in little NZ)

A poignant and chilling write and I fear for global warming because I think we have no control over it and it is very real and will be life changing for us all. Your poem is perfectly formed and has a powerful message, love Dolly x

Thanks Dolly. I think I'll move to England and live in a bubble at the Eden Project in a controlled environment.
Here in NZ I live on a hill and I have a kayak, so I am a little bit prepared! And I know how to swim too. Might not be enough.
