A very well-written 5-7-5 poem about the darkness we find ourselves in when we are all alone, until someone comes to poke a hole in our shelter, to let the light comes in.

Yes ma'am! You totally got the meeting. What got me with that picture is someone has to poke pretty hard on purpose to make a hole in the Box in order to help someone. Thank you so much for the review. I hope you have a great weekend :-)

Hello Tina, I love this poem, I would have liked to see the title incorporated in your poem, this is just a suggestion, Title-Love shines in- last line- as your love shines in- to me the this binds it all and makes it lasting, I look forward to reading more from this author****kahpot

Thank you for the review and especially telling me what you think might work best. I'm going to take a look at it now and I might change the last line just a bit. I am here to learn and I never mind any constructive comments, so thank you so much!

I love this poem your wonderful brain conceived. And I so agree with your author notes. The artwork choice is perfect for the poem. The problem I see in being a light to others and showing them love is in finding them. Too many older people are alienated from society by the fact no one knows they exist or where to find them. Most communities do not consider the senior centers might be inaccessible from means of not knowing their locations or an inability to get there, or making that first step to go, or thinking they are basically adult daycare centers or are too far away. There isn't community outreach programs to identify the people that could benefit from these centers. There isn't free and safe community chat for older persons to meet each other. There isn't letters sent out to notify older persons where entertainment exists...but insurance companies find them easily enough. Those wanting money from older persons seem to be able to find them. It is a crying shame that communities don't create safe entertainment centers for older persons and only list things like where to stuff mom when she's old. It is heartbreaking to see the attitudes today. Again, great job on this work!

I totally agree with everything you have said. It is a crying shame that seniors aren't targeted for help. Instead they suffer in loneliness, sometimes asking of their church or family and friends but it is a huge need. I saw that when I used to visit my stepmom in the nursing home and I ended up talking to all the residents there because they were so needy and they were so sweet. Thank you for the review, and even more so for your friendship :-)

Many seniors don't even have church anymore. Many churches they may have attended closed and other seniors have problems getting there or feel unwelcomed. Many have lost every friend to sickness or relocation. And far too many are abandoned by family. It is a major problem that isn't being addressed by community leaders. Helping widows within your own church membership, doesn't help those outside or bring them in to God's fold. It's sad.

This is just beautiful - and so true, also. Someone who's good to you and provides love makes it easy to dispel feelings of loneliness. Good luck in the contest! xo

"Love Shone In", is short, succinct and very much to the point. Each line of this talented poet's work is woven with the golden threads of truth. To me, this is a six, but unfortunately I only have fives left. I look forward to seeing your next post.

This is a fine entry into the contest, Tina. Loneliness can be like living inside a dark cave until some loving person comes along and shines a light.

Wishing you much good luck with the Contest Committee.

Wonderful message. I like your choice of words and picture. God's loving Light does break through our own sense of darkness and He can also use other people to do the same to dispel that loneliness.

Beautiful imagery. There is so much truth in these simple words, and the photo illustrates your message perfectly. The syllable count is just right. Very well done.

I like how you convey your message clearly in your notes, but it does not come through as clearly in the poem. Does he/she poke your REALITY or perhaps another less abstract word? Depression? Darkest mood? Deep despair? Try to be as concrete as you can if you want your reader to understand the Speaker's plight. Rod

As you know, I have few words to work with, lol. I will take a look at it. I am simply saying people in darkness need our love. I do appreciate your feedback and thank you for your take on it. Have a good day!

I added the word loneliness to the poem and changed one other little word to try to make it more clear. Thanks again for your input. If you have time I wouldn't mind if you look at it again :-)
