One usually thinks of random shots and collateral damage. This story suggests premeditated murder up close and personal. Who wanted that small child dead? Good opening for a mystery. I do hope you extend this in a later post. Rod

Your well written piece tells of something that is unfortunately becoming commonplace. Youths carry knives and they use them at will. The majority of people do not want to stick their necks out and say what they saw for fear of being attacked themselves. I worry for my children as they are growing up and becoming more independent as I'm not able to protect them as effectively as I could when they were tiny.
