This was so funny, Maria. You are the master of the a-has! I really needed a good laugh right now and you came through, my friend. Great job and I can't wait to see the next one.

I always try and anticipate the coming twist in these short pieces. I wasn't expecting the twist you've got at the culmination of this one. So you caught me unprepared.

Short, sweet, and entertaining. I enjoyed reading it :)

In your zone, I see. I enjoy these short flash dictions, too. I just recently learned that the only count is a word processor on your computer for accuracy. The word processor in edit format for FanStory is inaccurate. I adjusted all my recent entries. I count 52 and ready for the contest.
Always my best,
Sal xo

Thanks, Sally. I always use my word processor to count the number of words.

Hi Maria :)
So glad I'm not a handbag - although I do always seem to be the one carrying everyone else's stuff around!
This was a cute read. The picture is funny. The handbag is a grump!
Best wishes as always, Debra :) x

Good luck in the contest Maria, I liked the way you plotted out this short story. No one suspected that it was a handbag until the last sentence. A great job, well done.

There you go again , I knew there would be a twist and believe me, I read the first part and tried to guess what the end was before I got to it, this was another I did not see comeing. Very well told

Another most imaginative short work, Maria, you're really getting a handle on this method of writing, of course a sentient handbag, would indeed protest with being "used" well done, good luck, blessings, Roy

I find this flash fiction to be lighthearted and clever.
A cute art-work selection as well, to enhance.
"beckoned call"---Perhaps?
Best wishes with this worthy contest entry!

No, the correct expression is beck and call.
