Sadly, this is true of many marriages Barbara. My daughter had a similar first marriage. Fortunately, it only lasted two years and there were no children.
A sad commentary on a holy institution that God had better plans for.
Blessings

A powerful commentary on what many of us women already know. That there's far too much sex but no respect in marriage. Marriage? What is it but a sex fest for men nowadays?
Thanks for telling your story in a short and succinct poetic style in your own language.

One way of seeing it. In my case the husband withdrew sex. Power play I guess. Just one of his abuses. Sex is a sacred thing when not used as abuse. Blessings, Barbara

Ok. If I'm late replying, is cause I use a phone to save money on the internet.
Yes, men are always wanting sex - but they prefer variety.

A poignant write of innocence taken and confidence tamed, and I am sorry that you had a bad start to your adulthood here Barbara, we soon learn the ropes don't we and when we are treated so unkindly we learn to protect ourselves. Society is made up of the people and some are good and some are bad, the art is to navigate so that you only allow the good ones in, but when we are young we don't realise this, a fine write, love Dolly x

I am sorry you had such a bad experience, LovnPeace. I wish there was a way to prepare girls for this type of thing, as so many, me included, had a perception that marriage/romantic relationships are fairy tale perfect.
I pray for healing for you.

Blunt, open, straight to the truth. I am a survivor of domestic violence myself. Although I was not abused while pregnant, the only time I wasn't. The cycle is harsh, horrible and evil. You came through, and found your safe place and your creativity. Very well done. Bravery comes through the words of this poem. Reflective, thought provoking, lovely. Thank you for sharing.

I'd like to think that you were the exception, concerning your marriage, but I'm sure you're not. I doubt if this is much consolation, but being male I was raised by a very strong grandmother and mother. My father was not home very much, but as a child he once told me the only reason he'd ever hit me was if I talked back to my mother. I don't believe I've ever been disrespectful to a woman. I'm sure I've made them angry but I never hurt their feelings. Both of my sons are respectful of women and I am most proud of that and them. I wish you well.

Hello Barbara, you're most welcome. As my friend Ted would say, peace and recycle.
