This is an excellent contribution that made me laugh, even though I should probably be crying for the narrator. Maybe it's the gorgeously vintage accompanying photo. Great word choices.

Good writing about the courtroom from the perspective of the Lawyer who is trying to get his client off. I'm sure there is a lot communicated with different looks and feelings that occur in the room. Thanks for sharing!

Well, well, for a small poem, this tells a story, and that's an accomplishment in and of itself, but rhyme? Your poem rocks, IMHO. I think this will do VERY well in the contest!

Yes. A jury can be deceiving. A person never knows which way the mop will flop. Good contest entry. I see nothing wrong with the poem. Short but sweet to the point.

I wonder how many innocent people have been executed or spent their lives in jail.
I'm now reading a verse novel called Moonrise about a young man on death row.
