CIAO TEMPESTE: Vikings played an entertaining part of my life. When I was in high school, "The Vikings," was the name of our football team. One of my favorite movies was about vikings. One of the main characters was, a famous actor named, Kirk Douglas. And my favorite comic-strip in the news paper was, entitled, "Hagar The Horrible." Hagar was a leader of a band of viking warriors. He was a family man who supported his family by going out, and winning battles and wars...and bring all sorts of good stuff home to his family. He had a wife, "Helga," a daughter and a younger son. They were a happy family. I still like them. Thank you for sharing, my friend. God bless you. Ciao: rhonnie69.

I have not heard of this strip comic "Hagar The Horrible" but I saw the film with Kirk Zdouglas and stony Curtis.

I love old films ..have you seen

"A Patch of Blue " with Sydney Poitier ....

"Lord Jim " and "The Three Generals " both with Peter O'toole ..or

"A Tram Called Desire" with Marlon Brandon and another glorious film

"East of Eden " with James Dean.

There are so many beautiful films .. My favourite on the life of Jesus is "King of Kings" and Mel Gibson's " The Passion of Christ".

Have you any favourites .. I also saw the mini series "Jesus of Nazareth" done by Italian Director Franco Zeffirelli and broadcasted worldwide ( he 's well known also for his Romeo e Giulietta ) .

Thanks for the shiny 6 stars .. You are very kind and generous in your judgment!

Your word choices in this are excellent, very strong. which suggests the Viking strength. You are so right about their reasons for fighting. It's interesting to think of them in their Valhalla, recounting stories of their battle. Syllable count is perfect. Best of luck in the contest with this fascinating subject. judi

Nice to hear from you Alcreator!

We can value their courage in battle and admire their culture but they were quite brutal with the their enemies

Especially monks were slaughtered because of their religion which they didn't understand.

Their conquests shaped Britain and Europe ( AD793-AD 1066 )....as did the Romans before them from 55BC to AD410.

A clever and unique nonet and I enjoyed the sentiments here, the vikings of course invaded England often and the remnants of their seed is left in the people of England this day, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Yes they invade England from AD 793-AD 1066.

They also left their seeds in Europe .

They were warriors and we can value their courage but they were also very brutal with their enemies and killed monks without remorse.

Thank you for reviewing my poem ..

I love the series, specially the first three seasons with Ragnarlothbrok.
