You've written an excellent Nonet poem and entry for the contest
Usually history is the best arbiter of such questions
Considering poetry has been around for thousands of years
one might think it matters just a little bit.

This is a terrific nonet, Chip. For sure poetry matters and you speak a great deal of truth that it only matters when it whispers in your ear.

Great subject about poets. Writing sure is addictive to us.
Poems do tell much when read; author puts heart and soul into writing, inspiration reigns supreme when words strung together can make the reader dream. Best wishes for the contest.
