Katharine,

I totally get it. Besides all the other stuff, I suffer with ADHD. It's not fun. I am horrible. I jump in and cut people off in conversations because I have almost no control. Thankfully, since I was diagnosed, I've learned to try to watch it better... but I also have a terrible time with my train of thought.

Here's what makes it worse - they put me on one med for my ADHD - and my brain got all better! I could remember EVERYTHING! I could act like a human. I could pull up names and dates from years back. It was like a mind miracle! BUT - then to help with my other issues we took me off the med... and my mind disintegrated again... --sigh--

It was horrible. And so, so sad.

So I commiserate. Sending hugs -- good luck finding the culprit.

Sounds like your train of thought gets derailed a lot. I know the feeling. Sometimes I forget to take clothes out of the washer, and I fail to get items when I'm grocery shopping. I figure it's because my train of thought is interrupted by ideas for writing, etc. That's why ovens have timers--to remind you when the roast is done. Very enjoyable, whimsical article. I like the notion of stealing back your train of thought that's loaded with funny stories and punch lines. Great work. judi

thanks, Judi, for such a neat review. You're right. my train of thought does get derailed a lot, and it drives me crazy trying to think of words that I know damn well, for Pete's sake, just can't think of them when I'm in the middle of a sentence. Happens all the time. Infuriating and embarrassing.
am hoping that writing on stories and lyrics for songs everyday, along with Sudoku, will help keep the old mush melon clicking along.
One cute FS member asked if I'd steal hers back, too, while I was at it. I really love the FS members I talk to here. What a wonderful experience.
    take care and thanks again,

You're welcome. Really enjoyable, and I say that because reading some things is a chore. judi

Not trying to be flip, but why read them? I guess that's why I struggle to get enough points to enter contests and promote my stuff. If something is boring, I stop reading it. I can't comment favorably on something I don't think is any good. Well, sometimes I fudge a little bit to be nice. However, I can't keep up with you, but am going to try - by that I mean read all your posts; I could never write that often and that well.
I really admire you for doing it.

I certainly appreciate you for trying to keep up. I don't write as much as some people. judi

AS usual, Lady Katharine, you have me in stitches over here because I can SO RELATE!! ;) :) I've invested in the wonderful, magical sticky notes to remember things and have begun working on putting a hit out on the ticket-man that works at the train station: you know, the one in my mind that's now mastered the phrase "I'm sorry, but that train has left the station"?!! :) :) LOL! :) You let me know if you find any secrets out as to how to stop it from happening... :) :) Thanx for sharing! ;) Yvette ;)

Lady Yvette, methinks you are much too young to be having these problems.
Do you really take a train regularly? I have never done that. Mayhaps (ha!) you should put a spell on the ticket guy instead of a hit. Don't want to hear of your being incarcerated, though I would send you some brownies with a file inside. (can you tell I've had a couple glasses of vino?)
Punch-line, etc - you're telling me in your nice subtle way that I need to put a hyphen in there? Bless your heart, i'll do it.
Got to go sew on a pillow case.
    Thanks again,
    Katharine

Lady Katharine -- I'm gonna go with "it was the wine talking" ... :) :) ;) The train I was talking about was the train in your poem, Beautiful Friend: my train of thought! ;) ;) So, do not worry, just like that 'train' doesn't really exist neither does the 'ticket man' - LOL! ;) No worries, though, because now I'll walk into my teacher meeting with a big smile on my face! :) ;) You take care out there, my friend, and have a wonderful remainder of the week! ;) ;)

oh, Yvette, I wasn't that bad. Knew it was the train in my piece you were referring to, but of course, I can't remember now what I said last. arrgghh!

Lol. You must be too energetic to be focused on just one thing, Katharine. When you juggle too much in the brain - that happens. No one has been stealing anyone's train of thought - what was I saying?

that's funny!! I do think that's true, though. Am sure you saw that hysterical drawing of the female brain with all the connecting wires going every which way, thinking of a zillion things at once, and then the male's.... oh, well.

Hello Pome Lover :)
This is an amusing and relatable write which I enjoyed reading very much.
My train of thought has chugged out of sight too... I think it may be something to do with being permanently hassled....or maybe its age creeping up on me....or perhaps a combination of the two!
I hope you manage to recover yours ;)
Best wishes, Debra

Debra, you look too young for this prob. Precious picture of a good looking family! I think your train is probably just switchin' tracks. At any rate, I hope they both chug on back. And sooner would definitely be better that later.
Thanks for your very nice response.

I believe you're dealing about train-robbers. Butch and Sundance? Frank and Jesse? Time to call out the Pinkertons.

My problem is so much losing my train of thought, it's getting the various trains confused. I'll go to the kitchen ice cream, and come back with popcorn. Okay. I like popcorn, too.

I do two or three New York Times Sunday crosswords every morning. Calisthenics bore me. So, I buy books of crosswords--the hardest I can find. I still forget to put the wash in the dryer, but I still know 7-down is O-R-A-C-L-E.

Don't sweat the small stuff.

Peace, Lee

    Lee,
this write was sort of in jest, but so often the word I need escapes me that I don't think of it as small stuff, but thanks for the upbeat response. I do Sudoku -hard ones. Ironically, I find them less frustrating that difficult crosswords. Also, I write fiction for kids and adults every day, so my mind is working; however, I think my train of thought has departed the station.
    PS
    that's clever - the train robbers. ;)

Yes, recognize the jest. But every comedy is based on a smattering of truth.

You make a good point about Sudoku. My 'number skills' have gone to pot because all my cranial activities--crosswords and writing--are word-oriented. Honestly, numbers have never been my friends. I don't miss them.

yep. word hunts can be comedic at times. thank heavens for Google.
I think your crosswords would be more helpful in remembering words for sure.
I was never a whiz at math, but Sudoku is really more to do with logic, as there are just so many numbers and if you think ahead, its kind of like chess.

hi, nice piece of story. I liked the rich vocabulary and good English command. Very attractive image and presentation. Gifted in writing prompt, nice humor words and you have your own style. I highly recommend your work to others.

'Worser and worser'...I love it.
I actually say 'worser'...drives
hubby nuts, ha ha.
So unique, this little story.
When you find the thief...I want
mine back too!
There has been a rash of these
thefts the last few years!
Delightful,
blessings...

Your train will still be on track with most people you associate with. I am sure we shouldn't give up going to parties just because our minds are train wrecks!

I won't stay home from anything, really. This is more or less (can't decide which-ha!) in jest, but I do get frustrated when words won't come to me - and it IS getting "worser and worser."
Many thanks for your positive response!
