Great artwork choice. Nice overall presentation. Good repeat with hand. Good rhyme with vest-best. Good alliterations with hands-hold, cards-close, ticks-tells, bluff-blest-best. It all came together nicely. Excellent work :)

Indeed, a stoney faced poker player can bluff his way out of anything usually. Your analogy is spot on in that it doesn't matter what cards you have, if you can look confident enough like you are packing 4 aces when you only have one pair chances are your opposition will fold long before. Only problem is if they decide to See you...then you are in trubbs haha
Enjoyed this take on working with what you have. Sometimes you don't need the best deal to get a good outcome. You just have to sizzle with self assuredness haha
Cheers P

It is one thing to broadcast that you have a pretty good hand and chase potential bettors away because of it, but it is far better to have a great hand and suck other players into upping the ante and then bashing them over the head with your great hand at the end. Of course, you must never let them catch you switching cards before the big reveal.

Lol. Well, I couldn't pull it off as I'm not a "stone-faced, bluff-blessed player." (Great phrase, by the way.) I guess the game must be black-jack? Mostly just played hearts so don't know much about card games.

Ode to a poker hand! How cool is that? I admiore your creativity in being able to write a poem about anything. That looks like Blackjack in your graphic. Your poem rhymed, made sense and entertained me.

I love your words here Bill and you describe the game very well and I am hopeless at the bluff, I try and keep a straight face but I give away tell tale signs and I am done for! I enjoyed your words here, honest and forthright, love Dolly x

Oh yeah -- or those that are so expressive that it's hard to read what's actually 'different' about the next goofy-arsed expression! ;) ;) Look at the eyes, young man.... always look at the eyes! ;) ;) LOL! :) A great one, Bill -- you must have be up to some five-card-stud, eh? :) ;) Thanx for sharing! ;) Yvette

Thanks, Yvette. I have lost a rent payment or two in my training as a former poker player.

"bluff-blessed" - original phrase to describe a face. I'll have to remember it. Not possessing that needed quality, I was never any good at poker.
Anyway, a nice poem with good meter, rhyme and advice.

This is excellent, Bill. I don't play poker, but my husband did once in a while. I understand the lingo. Straight faced is the best in card playing (or life, too, I guess). Marilyn

It's best to hold your cards close to the vest in many interpretations. A poker face will serve one well when up against big odds, in all walks of life. Good philosophy in your poem.
