Such a beautiful way to remember this young man and stand with his parents as they remember and probably still grieve the loss. Love that they adopted a star in his name.
Loved your poem - well rhymed, full of alliteration and good message to hold tight to our loved ones when they are still with us.

Thank you so very much for this beautifully generous review.
I was very fond of that lad and we still all grieve together. He had been such a troubled boy and his life was on track as an adult then he died.

This is a powerful and moving poem. It really made clear the suffering of his family at the loss of their dear son. This happened to a friend of mine too, very difficult and sad time. Thanks for sharing this

A tragic story, LisaMay. You wrote a beautiful tribute to him that included a message we all should take to heart about this life. Nice job and you have my condolences.

Thanks for this review. I've managed to upset myself all over again.

I'm sorry to hear that. I know it must have been extremely difficult to write this one.

It was, but it was so very much appreciated by the lad's parents. It felt like I had handed them a million dollars, only more valuable.

I know they appreciated it. It was a beautiful poem.

This is an incredible piece of poetry! It was so moving to read. (I had 4 siblings, all passed, 14, 16, 44, and 59.) You can imagine it moved me to tears to read.) I so appreciate your wonderful exposition about the origins of the poem and also the info about the horrid brain aneurysm. Well done!

You are well acquainted with distress then. Such young ages for your siblings to pass. I feel for you; we can be tearful together... I managed to upset myself posting this poem.

Oh no! Lisa May, I'm so sorry. You have honored the young man and his family. I know your sage words of advice can be hard to follow, even when you're the one who wrote them.

I was so pleased to be able to write this poem for my friends. Belonging to FS and writing more poetry this year probably gave me the confidence to do it for them. It was read out in front of about 30 people so it was rather nerve-racking to hear my own words in that context.

Lisa, this is so moving. Your love for this young soul and his family is patent. God sure pulls some nasties out of His backpack sometimes. The author notes are outstanding. Thank you so much for sharing - DJ

Thank you for feeling the emotion in this poem. I get tearful when I read it. I think about that lad often; he had a life of such promise after he settled down to adulthood.

Well done, Lisa. This truly resonates with me because I have been in a similar situation - Blessings fellow traveller. DJ

Oh, LisaMay! What a touching, beautiful expression of love and compassion and understanding of this child of your heart. I loved reading the Author's Notes about how you came to love him so. This is my new favorite...and, as you know, I've had so many that I've loved. xo

I had to blow my nose and wipe my face before I could answer after posting this. Thanks so much for tapping into the emotion of this situation. It was so ghastly when he died because I was away in Aussie on the motorbike trip in the middle of nowhere, unable to be contacted and therefore unable to be with my dear friends back in NZ.

Oh, noooo. Oh, that is the WORST. Oy. I'm so sorry. xo
