Hi to both of you. It's a lovely story and so very romantic. Oh, I do believe in love at first sight. I've experienced it twice. The first lasted 16 years and produced our lovely daughter. The next just shy of 16 years. I like that you include some lovely poetry. All the best. Ulla:)))

What a wonderful way to write this story, adding some beautiful, romantic poems of how you feel whilst apart. Your letters are so full of what's happening and what you wish for, bringing in the Beatles live show and how the audience was responding to them. (loved them!) You give readers such pertinent details. It makes them feel as if they are there with the characters as each is in basic training or at their home with family. Both are experiencing the effects from separation of a loved one.
The inclusion of events happening simultaneously provide a great backdrop into events, people, etc, of the time period. You did a super job detailing the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show.
Readers are receiving insights into the characters and what makes each tick. They are developing fondness for each and a desire to find out where this love story goes.
The inclusion of the poems adds great interest, too. I believe many a soldier poured out his heart to his 'significant other' in that same way (from what I've read etc.--wasn't there to witness firsthand). Each poem has a distinct 'voice' of the author and gives readers a true feeling of how much Cathy and Bill love and care for each other.
It will be super to follow this story as it unfolds. The decade of the 60's will provide much interesting 'things' to include for Cathy. Also, the Viet Nam War will provide Bill with much to write as it progresses in terms of the military POV.

I knew I was going to tear up reading this. The letters, poems are so sweet, heartfelt it breaks my heart that they have to be so far away, not knowing when they'll see each other again, god willing they will. It's very well-written, draws a reader right in. Your characters seem so real, and your poems are beautiful.
