Hi Rosemary! Writing a book is hard work, no matter if one has been published or not. However, it is also very rewarding and we both are so happy to be co-authoring Love Long Distance, as well as other books. We are planning on publishing this one later this year. I really like your story. I love the historical references that take me back down that memory lane! Even though I was young, my parents were Beatles fans. LOL

I found this beautifully written, heartfelt and emotionally powerful communication between the two lovers. I am a product of the 60's and can relate to the long distance between to lovers caught in a difficult time for both. I anxiously look forward to the next chapter.

An interesting read, there's something a little claustrophobic about isolated letter writing in a story (I don't mean this as a criticism) I have not read the earlier works and am not sure if this is the prominent style you have opted for, but it creates a real sense of distance between these two characters.
You've captured the emotion of a long distance relationship in a difficult time well, and also managed to add very real, human moments in their musings.
the first letter was a little visually fatiguing and I would suggest making that third paragraph two paragraphs from "uncle Joe came over..." - new paragraph.
I also think there is a missing comma in this sentence
"No earthly soul can break it (comma) and I can't imagine anyone loving..."
I had no real misgivings though, so enjoy your five stars.

There is plenty of incidental detail in this chapter that establishes the setting in the 1960s. Heartfelt and believable communication between the two of you with a couple of fine poems.

Oh, this brings tears to my eyes. Being an Army Mom, and after watching my son deploy only a few months after marrying, and then finding out on the day of deployment that he was going to be a Dad, I always hold a soft spot for any writing pertaining to military. I love the poems added into the story, loved the feel of the loneliness, the sadness and of trying to be strong, of keeping busy while he is away. Fantastic story chapter...
