Remembering this always hurts me, as I failed to recognize and honor those attempts to guide me away from trouble.

This is a beautiful tribute to the memories you have of your mom. It should resonate with many who were fortunate to have such a strong and loving relationship. I miss my mom everyday with her bits and pieces of wisdom. A lovely piece.

it flows beautifully as I read through it and the punctuation (or purposeful lack of) keeps me at the rhythm that I know the author intended for me. I also pay particular attention to the presentation of it. Since there are usually fewer letters and words than a story or article, I place great importance on the spacing, placement and actual choice of letters and words. Presentation is everything to me with a 5.0.

I loved the way you wrote this, and adored the description of your mother that came through these beautifully rendered lines. How unique and touching and sweet this is! The chimney incident is a story unto itself... one that almost involved my not making my First Communion...for not lying outright to my father when he questioned all of my cuts and bruises, but for not being forthright, either...Hmmm...perhaps I should record all of those details...for posterity's sake... :)

"Sunshine Friends" is a term used by folks of my parent's generation! I always thought it was a wonderful way to explain to children why friends they thought were friends might choose not to be: The sun doesn't shine every day; it comes and goes...just like some of our friends...
