Okay, well, here's the thing -- a poem about a rocking horse should NOT make me sad, but this one DOES. (LOL)

Wonderful! If I was a gambling woman, I' put my bet on this poem... (Get it? The horses? = a win in the booth? LOL)

You're so funny. I came in third. But that's okay. I had fun doing it.

Yep, that is the way it goes, in time you can be forgotten.
This is a good for today also, cars verses horses.
Your poem rhymes very well, font nice and the color is the color you see you look at something western.
Good luck in the contest.

Awwwwww, this kind of reminds me of Toy Story. All things do come to an end but those memories remain forever. This was a fun read down memory lane. Good luck in the contest.

What a beautiful poem! I like the nostalgic tone and I think it's very appropriate for the subject matter.
I find abandoned toys very sad.
Thanks so much for sharing and good luck in the contest.

I love this poem told from the rocking horse's point of view. Bless its heart. That's how life is though. We as parents understand all to well your dilemma. We are the ones that raised them and they sometimes forget about us too. Perhaps we can sit on you and we can cry together. I enjoyed this fun and well written work. Well done!

I absolutely LOVE this poem. It is excellent in all respects: The rocking
horse's monologue is moving and emotional, arousing emotion in this reader; and the rhyme and meter of the couplets are sustained throughout.

I really enjoyed this piece! It's more than just a cute poem about a long forgotten rocking horse. As time passes many things - and people - end up being left behind. Bits and pieces of our past should be preserved. They remain an essential part of who we've become. thanks for sharing.

Hello Mystery Writer,
Oh! The tail is always the first to go! At least it was for our children's rocking horses. I so appreciate personification poetry - of all subjects.
Yours flows well, and tells a fine, albeit sad story. Perhaps there is hope for the rocking horse in the form of grandchildren! :)

Well-executed!

Ah, this was sad as it was such a sweet little horse and so fun when the child first climbed upon it. I remember my boys rocking away on this and then all of a sudden it lost it's delight. I think it gave way to the big wheel that roared down the driveway as they got older. I enjoyed your entry for the contest and I wish you well.

Thank you, Sally. Luckily, my boys were too old by the time the Big Wheel came around
