This quatern, Does Spring's Voice Whisper?, has the proper formatting and finds fickle Spring to have all of nature questioning the appearance of the reluctant season.

A lovely entry for the contest. April tends to be a little schizophrenic with the days being wet and dry, ,warm and cold. But there is a whisper of spring in the air, nevertheless. We just need to be patient. Suddenly, the earth will scream with a riot of colors as trees blossom and buds pop open. Can't wait!

I think this quatern is beautiful and such a perfect entry for this contest. You have written something to which many will readily relate this year. Snow is still descending in many places where spring was anticipated. I imagine this will do quite well in the contest. It has great meter and comfortable rhymes and a creative and original theme... considering it had to be about spring. ;p I loved it. ~MM

I am delighted you love my quatern, Miss Merri. The snow I described in the poem came yesterday, but vanished today. Many thanks for your high praise and those six bright stars.

I can identify with this lament. Just yesterday, I had to change what I planned to wear to a wedding because it was suddenly SNOWING! So ridiculous! Anyway, I love the rhythm and flow of these verses and the hope in the smallest places (trees...oddly spry, mourning dove's calls) You did a great job here. Good luck in the contest. xo

Well, we still have a crusty shell of snow on the lawn and gardens, but the temperature is climbing. Many thanks, Rachelle, for sharing my Spring poem and your very kind praise.

A good poem - using repetition to work the verses. We have had 4-5 sunny days - but at night - well, it was 18 last night and we have a wood fire every morning. Only place I hear spring's voice is when I see daffodils bursting forth some blossoms and I'm thankful.

We still have a crust of snow on the ground, so I?m still listening to ?whispers? of Spring when I want guffaws. Many thanks for sharing my quatern, Gail.

Last night even our daffodils sort of got frozen - they bent over. I went out and cut them all - brought them in for cheer.

Hello Mystery Writer!
Ah! What a glorious poetic rendering! Snow was to fly last evening, but somehow Traverse City "dodged the bullet!" Still so cold that I covered a number of annuals I had assembled.
I love the flow of your quatern and the longing that you express for Spring's appearance.
Thank you for sharing!

And I am still longing, Diane. There is still quite a crust of snow remaining on my lawn and flowerbeds, but the temperature is rising. Many thanks for your kind praise.

Spring's voice whispers a tantalising refrain through the stanzas. Your imagery is appealing.... spring's apology, the mourning dove, trees strafed all winter. May the hint she's coming soon become reality and leave the snow behind.

A wonderful quatern all the way around. Your lovely poem, well described, despite the limitation of using certain words, is illustrated beautifully with this terrific artwork. Favorite stanza:
"Trees strafed all winter by fierce storms
seem oddly spry, stretch toward the sky.
Does Spring's voice whisper in the air
words foreign to the passerby?"
Much luck in the contest with this fine entry. Marilyn

Thank you for your kind praise of my Spring poem, Marilyn, and for specifying which stanza appealed the most. That word constriction was challenging as " flowers" and "buds" are so tempting to write about these days.

What a fascinating, acrylic painting you selected to compliment your yearning for spring! I admired your rhymes, repeats and use of personification. Yes, enough with the snow and here's to the warmth of springtime. Best wishes in the contest as well- Joan
