I can't wait to see how Charles answers that question. It should be good. I really hope he doesn't try anything with Amelia. Surely he has more scruples than that, but he probably doesn't. He did murder his wife. This is another good write.

Thank you so much, Barbara, for another of your brilliant reviews. Charles is not a very friendly person, is he? lol, he certainly is not a fan of capable women. We'll see how Amelia fares with him. Thank you for the lovely 6 stars, my friend. Big hugs. Sandra xxx

Hello Sandra, this is a good, well written chapter. The dialogue is very realistic - sometimes the reader will forget it is ghosts doing the talking. Amelia is being very plucky taking on Charles - a slippery, evil character and I have my doubts she will get the better of him. But, of course, this is where you once again leave us wondering how it will turn out. You clever thing you. Very well written - love Dorothy xxx

Thank you so much again, Dorothy, for another wonderful review and all the shiny stars! Charles will be difficult to crack, he's hard to scare so Amelia will have to remain strong as you will soon find out. I'm so pleased you are still with me and enjoying the story, my friend, I know you are busy with your art and poetry. Thank you! :)) Sandra xxx

Good chapter. Charles knows Gladys is a ghost from his own experience, so perhaps he was expecting her to talk to Mildred about him and the murder. He was not afraid because ghost can't testify in court (or maybe they can in Olde England) so he feels safe. Can't wait to see how he reacts to a ghost attack, with weapons. Love it! :)

Aw, bless your heart, I'm so pleased you managed to get to read it. Thank you so much for the lovely 6 stars. No, even in Olde England ghosts can't testify, but it's a thought for another story!! lol. Big hugs, my dear friend. :)) Sandra xxx

Hello Sandra,
Exceptional chapter.
You're in your element writing about Mildred, Veronica and Gladys.
The dialogue is very smooth and realistic, even if it is between a ghost
and two time travelers.

They've come up with a very good scheme; of course, Charles will not
be an easy nut to crack, but Amelia is a strong woman who will hold her own.

One note: I'm not sure about the location of Amelia's house to Charle's house. Are they right next to each other? (Gladys appeared moments later
and said he was having breakfast?)

I'm sure Charles will have a lot to say for himself, or maybe he'll just laugh at the suggestion he's a murder. A evil villain makes a great story.

Excellent suspense.
Well done.
Robert

Yes, they live next door to each other. I can't remember if I mentioned it properly in the first chapters when Gladys was involved with the suffragettes, but just in case, I'll check it out and make sure it's clear.
Thank you for pointing that out. Now we are getting closer to the end, I need everything to fall into place neatly. Thank you, Robert, for the lovely six stars, and the wonderful review. I am more at ease with the girls, and I guess it shows! lol. Charles is a tough nut, and the girls will have a problem. But... Big hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

Excellent chapter that I enjoyed reading and I'm ready to read more. As I've told you in the past, this is such a good ghost story. You did a great job and I found no mistakes. Have a great day. Shirley

The team seems to have covered all their bases! Not sure how Charles can get out of this now - though I'm sure he won't go down without a fight. Great characterisation of Aunt Amelia and, of course, of Mildred. I just loved this paragraph!
"Mildred rolled her eyes and turned back to Amelia. "I's got what me mum told me is a gift." I grinned when I saw her cross her fingers behind her back to negate the lie. "I don't knows about it bein' a gift, sometimes it can be a pain in the neck!" she said, throwing me and Gladys a withering look, which only served to make us laugh."

Mildred does come out with some funny things, she's my favourite character. I can do so much with her. Thank you so much for the lovely 6 stars, my friend, and the fabulous review. :)) Sandra xx

This is a good sentence as it makes the character more real (she has her quirks): I watched her chew on her bottom lip, a habit she'd picked up of late when she was worried.

I was also wondering why Amelia couldn't see Gladys..., but now you've explained.

So Charles actually pushed his wife down the stairs? Ouch.

Thanks for sharing another very good chapter.

Yes, he is a vicious, pompous man, who didn't want Gladys mixed up with the suffragette movement. But she still went to the meetings, protest marches, and actually got arrested and sent to Holloway prison. He wasn't at all happy. Thank you so much for reading this part, I know it must be difficult to follow now, so I'm very grateful for your input. Big hugs, my friend. :) Sandra xxx

Thanks for the explanation. It helps a lot. I'm very interested in the suffragette movement and have read a couple of books about it (children's books, mind you).

They were an incredible bunch of women, and we have a lot to be grateful to them for. It's surprising what you learn when you have to research something for a story. :)

Whew! Catching my breath over your ending. What a great place for the cliffhanger. I found this chapter an easy continuous read. There are many adverbs but some writers like using them. (I just wanted to make you aware.) I think the story is moving at the right pace. Enjoyed reading your work, as always.

I'll take another look at the adverbs, I do like them but perhaps I've gone OTT with them here. I'll be checking out the whole book when it's finished for anything like that. Thank you so much for pointing them out in this fabulous review, my friend, I really do appreciate the time you take with my work. Big hugs! Sandra

Have you been peeping into my mind?? LOL, Linda. No, he doesn't scare easily, if at all, but he does get worried sometimes. Proving he did it won't be easy, either. So much can't be done. If only ghosts could be seen in court and could be called to the witness stand! Now, there's a story!!! LOL! Thank you so very much for this lovely, fun, and, hmm this idea giving, review, my friend, and a humongous hug for the 6 stars! Love you to bits! Sandra xxx

woe is me....what are we to do???...we have an old girl who might make it walking in the door...meek and mild Mildred...and two ghost...might I say...if I had committed a crime...that would be the posse I would want chasing me...OK!!! lets see what cards they have up their sleeves...and you my sweet...are soooooo very welcome...always my sweet friend...love you many times over...xxoo

off to sock my big toe...it was giving me some pain...so I went to the doc...without numbing it...he cut part of the toe nail off...and scraped under it...OUCH...he said to keep it clean and change gaze...and if it didn't get better...he would have to numb it(now there's a thought) and dig deeper...always something...say I to Ian for me...I hope he is doing well...xxoo

OOOOWWW That sounds so painful! I'd have screamed the house down, (I have a minus 100 pain threshold!)
I hope you don't need to go back! You poor thing. Just keep your foot up for a few days, get someone in to do all the work and feed you. Someone strong, with bulging muscles, dark hair - preferably long with a wave in it, and deep violet of green eyes. Sexy lips, and just your normal hunky carer. Ok? :)) Then when you're finished with him, send him over the pond, I think I have a sore toe coming!!!! :))xxxxx
reply by l.raven on 24-Apr-2019
I'm good with pain...I wait to go to the doc's until I'm crawling...and the doc always says I waited to long...LOL...and you may have to wait awhile for that hunky carer...I have nine toes left...so wear a shoe with a medal front on it...LOL...thank you so much for your kind thoughts...smiling big back at you...love much...xxoo

Great chapter!

But I worry that Charles may throttle poor Amelia before she has a chance to lay out her proof!

I hope not. ;-)

hmm, I'm not sure he's going to be willing to go to the police...

Of course he's not going to. Don't forget, Veronica and Gladys are in the room. They will keep an eye on things. Well, my friend, you've certainly done a lot of reading tonight. Thank you so much. Biggest hugs. :)) Sandra xx
