Well done contest entry. Houses soak up the personalities of those who live in them, called home. And yes, when a member dies and leaves you alone - all there is left is quiet. The house seems empty and bare like your heart.

Hello Poet!
I really enjoyed how your stanzas in succession illustrate the growth of a family in this house. It was an excellent idea to use for the contest topic. The repetition in this piece lend it a quiet strength.
Good luck!

A melancholy recapitulation of memories of the ebb and flow of life and death, ending with an excellent oxymoron, "deafening quiet."
Good luck in the contest!

A very well-written poem about the homes we grew up in. When we see the old photos we remember the things that brought mostly life to the now quiet shell of its former glory.

I love this poem. The rhyme is perfect and so is the flow. I also like the short lines.
Empty houses make me very sad. I always think of their past and the life they held inside.
Good luck in the contest.

This is beautiful and moving. Best of luck in the contest! Somehow you even threw in light-heartedness, which gives it a lovely balance--and the quiet hits like a thud! Well done!

Excellent. And life moves ahead whether we like it or not. I love that house! This poem speaks volumes about the feelings that remain after the death of a loved one. Great job!

This piece is excellent, well-written and very moving. The tone and theme are bittersweet, recounting a lively existence--leading to sadness and
quiet loneliness.

This is a lovely story of a home filled with life and fun, and strife and all the things that go along with a family. Then someone dies and the life seems to be sucked out of the home. Really well done. Hope you do well in the contest. Rox
