I really like what you've done with this. You've described all of the activities that occurred in this house. It sounds to me like this house was a living entity. It was alive once and then came the quiet. This is really good Rachelle and worthy of the award received. Congratulations and very well done!

I really like this poem. The house has a life, but not really, it's the people that live there. A death changes things so suddenly and forever more.

Excellent poem and congrats on your well-earned win. :)

Wallowing in sorrow I'm sure is not what any deceased Love one would wish for us, we can rember past Loved one's fondly and continue to move forward without destroying their memory. Thank you for Sharing, Prayers of Strength and Healing to you and friends.

This poem really touched my soul because it just reads as so raw and honest. It is simply human emotion and tells the story of something that we have all experienced or will do in our lifetime- how loss makes us feel incomplete. The loss of a family member is always most keenly felt when in an environment that they previously always inhabited such as their home. Grief is a hole which we all sink into but then we learn to live with that hole instead of being immersed in it. I love your use of repetition and your rhymes. You made it easy to read, yet still it was beautiful and a real heart pounder. Good luck in the contest. X

Such positive things to say, to end with so much sadness. Hope the good memories outweigh the sad. Rhyming is perfect, imagery well described.

Such a lovely poem with sad tones. Reflecting on the past is hard, but you have done it in a beautiful way. A home is not just a building, it's the people within it.

-Congratulations on the
win, Rachelle. I can see
why you won!
-Very nice image and
presentation.
-I like the style of your
poem, the rhyme, the
repetition of "life," and
the description.
-It has a smooth flow
from stanza to stanza.
-You show how the
how the house was once
full of life with a growing
family and friends to the
change in the conclusion,
which is very effective.

Congratulations on your win in the contest:) You tell the story of a home in it's entirety -- the hustle, bustle, joys, and sorrows it has witnessed--and now the quiet, which is a part of the rest of the story.
