Hello Marilyn, Thanks for reading. We are most fortunate here in Oz. Our birds, especially the Rainbow Lorikeet comes to entertain us daily. We do give them wild bird seed, so beautiful. XXK.

Hi Kace. I feed the birds and squirrels here all the time. Today a little black squirrel came onto the deck. First time for him here. I agree, the birds are beautiful and offer us such joy. Marilyn

I was walking on crutches through a London Park; a grey squirrel needed glasses, climbed one of my crutches and said to himself, "Uh, Oh, that ain't no tree! XX Made me laugh, we don't have squirrels here.

Really? No squirrels in Australia? That's quite something. We have tons here, but they are so amusing and cute. Climbing your crutch was really amazing. I guess he did need glasses. LOL! Marilyn

He should have gone to Specsavers! We do have a squirrel-like critter called a sugar-glider. Their web-like wing is underneath their tiny arms, attached to their bodies. They can glide thirty feet from tree to tree. I found one in my laundry once, what a blessing to hold the tiny little marsupial in my hand only to release him. Perhaps he couldn't find the laundromat!

Is the picture of a kookaburra?.Somehow ,when they are mentioned in a novel I imagined a big bird with loud laughing sound.
This one is such a sweet heart of a bird.
Nice poem about birds .I love them but we are steadily destroying their habitat.

This was a great read, Aussie. It had a great flow and imagery to it. What I really loved about it, though, is it took me away from where I am now and to the scene you described and it was beautiful. Great job.

This is a beautiful nature write filled with your observations and the kookaburra is such a cute pleasant bird and reminds me of a song I sang in the girl guides: 'kookaburra sits in the old gum treeee, merry merry king of the bush is heeee, laugh kookaburra, laugh kookaburra, how gay your life must be". Sorry, I just had to remember that song! A great write, love Dolly x

G'day Dolly, Yes, I remember that song. They are carnivores, swoop on snakes and small animals. Have a real eye for small critters. Thank you for reading my friend and a Happy Easter to you. Love, Kay. xxx

I was wondering if this was a special structure Aussie, it would be a six star write any hour of the day if there was a set rhyme scheme. I was looking for a pattern there, because I absolutely loved your wording and the exquisite imagery and action of the piece.
Beautiful a write. Just the different rhymes in each stanza got me searching for that pattern, however, it need not have.
Beautiful.
My best wishes.
RG
