A very wel-written poem about the cathedral that burned down. It was an earthly building build with human hands, one day we will all gather in an eternal cathedral build by God Himself.

Hi, excellent work considering that you produced it within a short since the accident happened. So sad indeed but you put me in the picture by captivating my mood of the real feeling of the people there. keep up the good work. good consolation at the end.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, and drank in every word.

Such a pity what happened to Notre Dame, it has been a huge monument to history and a building that should have remained revered rather than burned.

A fabulous write, thanks for sharing it!

This is a great poem! Great analogies present and I am digging to try and figure out what they mean. Good, it makes me think. I love the imagery and am glad so many are writing about this event.

Wow... now that one just reaches right inside you and wakes you up, doesn't it! :) ;) Not a big fan of free verse, but this is a wonderfully thought-provoking write, Sergeant -- thank you for sharing! :) ;)

What a sad day indeed the day that Notre Dame burned. I'm not sure that more will visit the icon than before it burned. Two Billionaires have already started a "hedge fund" of $500,000,000 for rebuilding. They will never be able to get it back to full glory but hopefully with a decent fire sprinkler system for where the fire ladders can't reach. I've visited a number of times and was in awe of the history and artefacts. Happily the 1500 visitors to the Cathedral that day, all made it out safely. There is a God. Blessings for Easter. PM

The people were shaken when that building burst up in flame. You are right, a haven for the vanities of the world is just that, a building that will burn. Yet, we who believe, live in the temple of the heart, for God is with us. One day He will take us home. Thank you for sharing Sergeant Floyd.

This is a poignant poem about the fires in cathedrals. I was saddened by the one at Norte Dame--such history and love in that church for so many years and for so many people. I believe they will rebuild, and many will be thankful. I like the message of your poem. Your lines flow smoothly with great descriptive words. Thanks for sharing and caring. Jan
