Dear Mystery Poet,

How utterly adorable. I understand that desire of wanting to read and not wanting to be dependent on anyone else. I was that way from a very young age, myself. hahaha!

This is really well-composed and flows beautifully. It should do great in the voting. Good luck!

A very pleasant and wise poem. For all of the girl's frustration, it must be hard for the boy, too. Teaching is no easy task.
The desire to read is a wonderful and powerful drive.
Well done.

Best wishes at the polls.

Peace, Lee

What a lovely child's poem - I love the voice of the older brother patiently encouraging his younger sister, and also patiently willing to read to her. Your rhymes flow easily and the imagery of the childhood interactions bring smiles.

I am about ready to stomp my foot because I don't have any more sixes to hand out and this poem surely deserves one.
Beautifully written with a wonderful and timeless message.
Well done. No errors noted.

All the best,
Jan

Thanks for sharing this writing about an enjoyment in reading and working hard at whatever skill we want to improve upon. Reading is an important skill to learn to enjoy and not to do it only for school work.

Hi, Bill, I truly enjoy sharing I WANT TO READ with you and others. Indeed, reading is so important even today when so much is audio/digital. In so many of our city schools children read 1-4 years below grade level, mostly because they do not read on their own. Rod

A very well-written rhyming poem about the desire to read like a big brother or sister. The second child always seem to learn easier and quicker than the older ones because they get exposed to learning at an early age.

Yes, Sandra, I think the younger sibling usually benefits from having an older sibling who will teach/coach him. And today children are learning to read as pre-schoolers. Too bad they don't continue to read when they become teenagers and/or adults. Many thanks for your kind praise of I WANT TO READ. Rod

This was a great write. I don't know how I would deal with life if I couldn't read. It has brought me countless hours of pleasure, fun, and knowledge. It's so much better than just watching a movie or TV show since I can picture it all in my own mind as my own vision. Great job.

So many others on FanStory have responded like you, saying they do not know how they would cope with life if they could not read. As you well know, you can't write well if you don't read. Many thanks for sharing I WANT TO READ. Rod
