Well crafted story in a poem that fits this rhyme contest spot on. Brings back memories of all the old Westerns seen on television back in the days of real TV. The reason the legend did not fire is because he knew it was his son who was about to gun him down. Should make an interesting entry into this contest.

This had my attention from start to finish. Whatever happened to western movies? Your poem would make an excellent one. It had a set up, love, loss, action, suspense, and heart breaking resolution. All that was lacking was the horse. Very well done!

Thanks for the stars. I too love western movies, books and poems. I didn't understand your statement about the horse.

Just being silly. Horses are integral to westerns, but not to your poem. It stood on it's own without a horse, though. :)
