You did an excellent job on this, rhyming and all. Well not everything rhymed. I just enjoyed the poem ever all and how you explained about the buffalo. I enjoy reading what you write. You give such thorough reviews on my poems. Still waiting for your lift in the rhyming emotion contest.

    Ciao!

There was no need but I do appreciate your positive feedback .

Glad you found my poem engaging.

The numbers in the note s section are telling of how deep the hatred was towards Indians.

    Keep safe!

    Ciao!

Thank you for directing me to this poem, while reviewing "Native Instincts." I see your passionate rage against the persistent carnage inflicted on Native Americans and on bison...

We did not "discover" this country, we stole it with murderous intent...

I am proud I have Algonquin blood. I am ashamed of how the Native American culture was annihilated!

Powerful poem...

Mournful lament of all that was lost!

    Ciao!

I?m glad you enjoyed the read.

I m European and unfortunately when it comes to conquering we have done our share of brutal actions.( conquistadors etc)

Yes the white man stole the land from the Indian populations and broke every treaty made.

    Their word was worth nothing.

I can understand you are proud of your Algonquin blood. ( smile)

I was a pleasure talking to you!

    Ciao!

PS: I wrote this for your Thanksgiving Nov2020.
It won first prize so some members did agree.

for Native Tribes it's a day of mourning and
protest for the theft of their land by settlers hands.

Good morning to you, Tempeste.

Man's insatiable greed and disregard of others, albeit others of their own kind or indeed the natural world has and continues to have a disastrous and detrimental effect our world.

You paint a part of our dark history with great passion, here in your poem.

Bravo!

kind regards

tracey

    Ciao Tracey !

glad you noticed this entry ..

white man has always had this tendacy to think he is better and to impose his way of life onto other population.

The aborigines got the same treatment from the White English invaders ...

Both the American Indian and the aborigines lived in harmony with Mother Nature ..the whites had nothing they could teach them of value.

All the Whites did was steal their land and try to exterminate them ..

The genocide of the Amazon people is ongoing ..the governments remain inert because they don't want to miss out on the wealth.

If you have time check out my poem
    .... Greta Thunberg 's Crusade ..

I don't want you to review it but listen to her powerful speech below in the note section ..

I appreciate the ...Brava !... (Wink)

    papa ' s name Franco.

Wow! Amica Mia, this is a fantastic poem you've penned about the west and the Bison. You've certainly done your research on the matter. You have a nice flowing rhyme with all the history. Nicely done! Good luck! ~Kerry

What happened to the American Indian and the aborigines is happening now to the Amazon people ..

Their land is being exploited by government and companies while they are silently being murdered.

And the rest of the world looks the other way ..

Thank you so much for your ongoing support!

Excellent work with your rhyme and flow in this. You show your sympathy for the native Americans. It's wonderful that wild animals threatened with extinction are being protected and their numbers are increasing, as with the buffalo. I wonder what the country would have been like if the white settlers had not arrived. Would the native Americans have continued to live as they did in times past? Would they have built homes, schools, churches, made advances in medicine, etc.? I have to wonder if the land would have remained the same. Your poem was thought-provoking. Best of luck in the contest. I'm sure many will share your feelings. judi

Thanks Judi ... I am 100 % sure that if the white settlers had not ️come the Indians would have continued to live in harmony with nature.. The White invaders have always had the presumption to be better ... To know better ..this horrible urge to want to impose our way of life on others because we think its better

The Indians knew how to cure themselves with the local herbs .. .. They had a balanced diet.. They didn't want to live in houses and grow crops nor pray to our God.

They didn't exploit their resources.. Left in their hands America wouldn't be full of polluted cities..

The settlers thought that the land was wasted in their hands but all the settlers did was exploit it .. The Dust Bowl ..ring a bell?

Did you read the figures .. White settlers nearly drove to extinction the bison out of greed and profit and also because killing off the bison meant the starvation and death of the Indians.

The government stole their land and could never keep their word.

The White settlers had nothing to teach the Indians.

The settlers brought alcohol , diseases unknown to the Indians and misery.

    Enough said .

Actually it was after I read your interesting poem that I decided to write one too.

I want to say more about your poem but I will tomorrow when I review it .

Ciao Judi and forgive my rant .

This was a good write, Tempeste. It had a good flow to it and the message was very powerful. A good history lesson of how horribly the Native Americans were treated and how the bison almost totally killed off. Good job.

Thanks 24chas for the positive review ..

Eliminating their source of food was the key to resolving the so called Indian problem.

Hunters were making money with the hides meanwhile the Indians were being staved ..

The governments never kept their word ..treaties were alway being broken by the white population.

The aborigines got the same treatment.
