They are loyal companions aren't they? I'm sorry to hear about your loss. They're just like a family member because they're loved so much. It does seem also like they can go out to pee and take you all around the neighborhood before they find the right spot. i enjoyed this well written ode to Dinky. Well done!

What a sweet dog, we have owned many, well four, they all made it to 16 years of age, but all faithful and missed, particularly our last dog. Buddy. Beautifully written, Earl, yes this is the other side, not so missed heh heh. Well done, Blessngs, Roy

Thank you Roy. What made this hurt so much is we had to put our cat of 15 years, Moe, down last week. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my work.

That's sad Earl, I understand, never pleasant, some say they've seen their pets in heaven

This is fun and anyone who has a dog has been in this place unless they live where it's warm all year long. In the first four lines you do refer to the here and now but in the fourth line you refer to "stay out there" I does sound as though you are still out in the cold. . .so maybe "to stay out here?" Just a thought. . .and doesn't change the rhyme at all . :)

First, to address your notes -- I am so very sorry for your loss of such a wonderful companion. I know the sorrow well.

Your poem, however, helps me recover from sadness -- fond memories of cold, snowy trips and begging a dog to hurry. :)

Hello Earl Corp
your Ode to Dinky is so original I liked, why I found your rhyming poem (even if you are sad) you showed us in humor about Dinky's of how he re-leaved himself of how you miss him. Gert

Well put together. All the thoughts that we have when we're doing our duty each day and night, with our beloved pet. So sad, been there done that and I empathize with you. Your heart is in your poem.

Aww...this is a funny memoir for an apparently awesome dog! You are creative in writing a funny story about his pooping, but your love for him comes through too! I guess the fact that you are amused rather than fussing at him that you are freezing is a clue! Thank you for sharing:)

That is going to hurt a lot. I'm so sorry about Dinky, seventeen years is quite old for a dog, you've been blessed. Our pets are our other children, and we love them as such. To lose them is just as painful. Your parting poem is a fun one that brought a smile, and I'm sure it also brought a lump to your throat. So sorry. Sandra xx

Thank you Sandra. My wife kept telling Dinky you have to be immortal. We had to put our cat of 15 years, Moe, down last week. Life is certainly different without them. I appreciate you reading and reviewing my work.

The heartfelt plea of the dog minder, doomed to supervise the poop session. This is almost as frustrating as watching the dog take up the required position, smiling at you all the time, and then walk away with nothing to show for the event. Meanwhile the hail or whatever beats down. Oh how I feel for you.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's tough to lose a trusted friend. This was a good tribute to him. One small nit: The line- You have pooped throws off the rhyming of the poem. I would incorporate it into the next line to have it read: You have pooped and peed.
