I loved getting sick because my dad always brought home a book. When I had the mumps it was Black Beauty.... I remember A Child's Garden of Verse but I must have gotten that from the library. It was rare for dad to buy books

Stevenson is one of the great Scottish writers,
both his stories and poems, I loved Treasure Island.

Just a suggestion - I would state in your author notes that 'favorite' is to be pronounced using 2 syllables only (fav'rite), otherwise, your poem reads as a 5-7-6.
