This is a superb loop poem, Diane, right from the first clearly to the last word clearly, the loop has become a perfect circle.

How lovely is the imagery of the couple who needed to move off the farm.

Great job and best of luck with the Contest Committee. :)

Well, here is another win for you, Diane. This loop is so well constructed all the way through, my friend:

"Say that we must never go back
Back to where we both learned to pray."

Bravo, my friend. You are good ag these as well as other forms. Bob

"To Take Our Leave", is an extremely well-written and deftly descriptive piece. To me, this is definitely a six. You KEEP READING and I'll KEEP WRITING. I look forward to seeing your next post.

I don't at all like these Loop poems (not your fault just a fact) because I hate restrictions to my writing. But it is what it is.

The difficult part of them is to get them rolling along smoothly despite the multiple recurring words throughout. You've managed to do this very well to my ear. You tell the tale very well.

The story told is also a sad tale of lives moving on for whatever reason.... probably downsizing in their twilight years, but certainly a time of sad reminiscence over times passed.

Lovely words and sentiments. I can't say I care for this style, I am seeing so much of lately. It is somehow annoying to my nervous system. Blessings, Barbara

    Hello Barbara!
Thank you for your excellent rating and review.
The Loop style is interesting and a challenge to attempt.
The deadline for the contest is this evening; that's probably why you are seeing so many of these offerings!

What a touching poem this is as you share the reflections of this couple who are giving up this land--land upon which it sounds they built their lives. They hope that the new owners will treasure it as they have.
And what a great picture you chose to accompany it.

This is exceptional! The message in your well-written words are loud and clear and one can feel the emotion in them. The flow is great and the picture is perfect, along with the color scheme. Awesome Loop Poetry Contest entry! Your notes are much appreciated, too. Awesome! Wishing you the best in the contest. Blessings, Cathy

    Aw, Cathy!
I am very honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.
I have been feeling incredibly nostalgic lately about my grandparents as well as my own parents. I come from a long line of generations whose lives and beliefs are tied to the land...even when it is taken away from them...
    So pleased you enjoyed!
    Have a wonderful week!

I think this is a good entry for the Loop Poetry contest.
Your verse flows smoothly and the story is well told and clear, if a little bit sad.
Well done and good luck to you.

Hi Diane, it's a lovely poem. I loved it. How much it must hurt to see your life's work being sold but then again you pray that the net owner will put in the same love as you once did. For some reason this makes me think of the book 'A Thousand Acres' by Jane Smiley. All the best. Ulla:)))

    Hello Ulla!
Thank you for your excellent rating and thoughtful review.
This offering is a combination of thoughts regarding my grandparents and parents. But when I was thinking of the title, Smiley's novel came to mind as well. Only no one in my family ever owned a 'thousand acres,' but I did write a piece - years ago - about "McNeil's One Hundred Acres."
    So pleased you enjoyed!
    Thank you!
