A very well-written poem of farewell to Brooke who seems to be everyone's friend and mentor here on FanStory. Unfortunately our paths did not cross and I feel I lose out when I read the wonderful testimony have for her.

Thanks for the review, Sandra. I am glad you liked my tribute to Brooke. I am sorry you didn't get to know her. It all depends on when you joined FS, as many did not have the chance, either.

That was as an incredibly beautiful tribute to our dear Brooke, Pam. You open up with those immortal lines from Robyn and then go into your thoughts and feelings of what Brooke meant to you. There is such a lot more about Brooke we are learning through the tributes being posted here as everyone shares something different in their recollections of this great lady.
The next three stanzas are your personal thoughts, how pleased you are to know Brooke is at rest and safe and secure with God. In the second stanza, this line particularly shines for me: To keep the candle lit and burning bright... We most certainly will make sure it stays that way. Then the last stanza is like a foreword to the lovely Whitney's that follow-- one is yours and the other one, Brooke's.
Brooke's lovely rhymed Whitney is about her father and how he enjoyed seeing the glory of Nature growing colourfully in his lawn. And yours, a free verse Whitney, describing the graceful Blue Heron, a most lovely wading bird. Your final line ends your tribute perfectly.
"Faith moves mountains; love binds hearts." Stunning!
In your author's notes, you give us Brooke's notes as to why she has always loved dandelions and other lovely wildflowers. I missed that one and now understand perfectly. :))

Thank you so much for the exceptional rating and review, Sandra. I am very touched by it and the thought you put into it. I am glad you appreciated Robyn's words. They meant a lot to me when I read her poem. I agree with you that we are learning so much about Brooke from different viewpoints.
I am glad you liked the candle line. It will stay very bright for her always. I am glad you liked my quote, too. Like many who write creatively, I do not know where these things come from. I just know I was inspired by Robyn and Brooke. Brooke meant a lot to me. I am glad I shared a little bit of Brook's talent so people could know about it, especially newer members.

I joined too late to know Brooke but it's isn't hard to see that she made a huge impact on the community here. I love her poem about her father's garden and yours is a worthy tribute to her.

I know that much for sure.
She's always been someone I looked up to and admired.
From my very first day on Fanstory she made me feel welcome by taking me under her nurturing wing and guiding me around the site.
I'm sure you remember your first few weeks here and how confusing everything seemed.
But there was Brooke, taking me gently by the hand and showing me the ropes.
I received my very first poetry from Brooke and she gave such an in depth assessment.
All for just two cents!
From then on it it was no more "Mrs. nice gal!" because Mrs. Baldwin did not pull any punches as it pertained to errors in my writing--especially grammatical ones--as she wanted everything to be ju-u-u-u-u-usssst right, even if the writing was not her own.
Brooke was firm but fair.
You have summed up the compassionate and talented essence of Brooke here in your poem dedicated to her memory.
You are missed.

Thanks for the review, Dean. I appreciate all of your comments and memories about Brooke. She was such a kind person and so talented. You are right about navigating FS. I wish I had been able to know her longer, but in the short time I did, I learned a lot.
I am glad she had a positive influence on you, too. She is missed, but I think she is looking down and smiling at all of the tributes and replies.

Hi Pam,
This is an absolutely beautiful tribute to our sister poet, Brooke. Unfortunately, I did not have the pleasure of knowing her because she was active on the site during my 10+ year absence. (I've just recently returned.) Your verse is absolutely lovely and I appreciate that you included a poem from Brooke and well as from yourself in her Whitney style. (I really like it!)
