A beautiful free verse that captures the moment a troubled soul steps from the cold of reality into the light and warmth of what waits beyond...thank you for sharing and best of luck in the contest! ;)

A very well-written free verse poem about the darkness where we often find ourselves captive. We have to take a chance and exit the dark room and hopefully find a door that opens into the light.

Hi Val,

Ooooh - I really like the positive message in your poem. It sounds as if she may be coming out of a major depressive episode. This is a great contest entry and should do well in the competition. Best of luck and thanks for sharing. Jan

I don't normally gravitate towards free verse, but this one has structure if not rhyme or meter. The first three lines deal with darkness and despair, and then the next three lines have progressed to the opposite - light and hope. Metaphor I guess is what poetry is about, even when it doesn't rhyme. A painting with words.

Thank you for this very intelligent review, and free verse does not require rhyme or meter. None the less, I loved this review.

Hope is eternal. Dark and light as good and evil. I enjoyed reading the poem. Excellent color combinations. I wish you luck in the poetry contest. Oops need more characters to review.

This was a good read, Val Crisson. I like the flow to it and the positive message you had in it. Good rhythm as well in the form you used. Nice job and good luck in the contest.

I really like this review, as it is intelligent and sounds like reviewer "knows his stuff" I was going for a message as well as alliteration and other stuff. Thank you for noticing. Val Crisson

Love you too, Linda. I always can count on your support, even though I haven't been writing "de nada" lately. I've just got to make more time for it, and we have been traveling so much. You know the bucket list thing. I hope you are well and happy. Thank you so much for the lovely review. Hugs Me

I like this free verse poem. you presented an excellent image of coming out of the darkness into the light. isn't that what we all appreciate when that happens.

This free verse, Beyond the Darkness, finds the individual emerging from her oppressive world and finding that the real life is waiting with promise and growth.
