Ice crystals are certainly beautiful. It is nice to see them form and spread on a frozen window. The last line was a trick that needed to be employed. However i have heard diamonds called di'monds before.

    Yvon,

Thanks for your sparkling review. While Merram Webster cites diamonds in three syllables, often we pronounce it with two sounds. LOL. To keep my syllable count for my 5-7-5 verse, I needed that poetic device to shorten the sound with " di'monds "

Do keep on the lookout for my other Haiku or 5-7-5 posts on FS. It is my go-to poetry style.

Hi Marc, I'm looking at that picture, and I'm thinking... wouldn't it be amazing if there were a person who could actually cut diamond in the form of that snowflake? That would be the most expensive snowflake on the planet... but it would last forever! LOL

Good idea Susan! Write a poem describing that fantastic idea. LOL

Pleased with your review again of my 575s.

A very well-written 5-7-5 poem addbout the snowy flakes and crystals that only last a moment before it melts away. But when we can capture it we see them as diamonds forever.

Oooooow... This is so pretty, Mark. Snowflakes are nature's jewels. I do love to watch the snowfall, it glitters here in Upstate NY. Your Upstate too does it glitter by you or is it just here cause I'm on the lake? Well, lovely 5-7-5. ~Kerry

    Kerry,

I'm in Albany so it must be the river. However, with the 'warmer' (still Winter) weather we have a mini pond under the snow in our backyard. Glad you liked my imagery for this 575 verse. I appreciate your frequent reviews and stars.

Hi Mark,

You have outdone yourself with lovely piece, Mark. This would have been an outstanding contest entry. I love the image you have chosen. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Thanks Jan. Hopefully my future 575s will also provide you some joy or amusement. FanArt illustrations are my first choice for my verses. Glad this one pleased you.

That's a very interesting and creative way to describe snowflakes. They do indeed survive for precious moments and are like diamonds. They come in so many amazing designs. I like it Mark and enjoyed reading this. Well done!

Thanks Jeffrey for your endorsement of my 5-7-5 verse.

Would you have preferred icicles instead? LOL

Ice crystals bring us joy - diamonds are just pretty rocks. However, this is a great poem that extolls the virtue of diamonds. You have done a fine job with this and I like it very much.

THANK YOU Miss Sherry for your comments and stars for this verse. Of course, 'ice' is also gangster slang for diamonds.

    Enjoy your day.

Gee, that's right, but see I left the mob about 5 years ago and have forgotten so much.

Yes and aren't they beautiful. Some of the icicles around here are massive. Unfortunately some folk are experiencing roof, walls and eave damage because the snow melts, freezes at night and the ice causes a dam. We had horrible damage two years ago. Had to get a massive clean up - Thanks to the Lord State Farm stood for the cost. Nice poem and visual also.

    Gail,

Pleased that my post gave you a warm feeling instead of a chilling one. Thanks for your review. The 5-7-5 is my go-to style. Don't expect anything longer. LOL

P.S. Icicles are nice, but not if State Farm is involved.

Things in nature have when put under a microscope shapes and interesting patterns. I one time looked up what chalk would look magnified 400 times and it was delightfully intricate.

Oh Patricia! I remember the joy of looking through the microscope. I wonder if my kid's one is still in the closet. I should look!

    Thanks for your review.

I liked how you juxtaposed the transience of ice crystals with the permanence of diamonds. Moments are precious to enjoy, just as something that lasts a long time is too.

    Lisa,

Yes, Diamonds Are Forever was a good movie and too many syllables for my last line!

Thank you for your comments and review.
