This is an amazing write and I'm not surprised it's a book of the month entry! It's original, powerful and effectively brings the realities of secret missions, warfare etc to life to an audience that is so often tuned out of the sheer brutality that exists. I regret coming in late but can honestly say that you have told your story with impressive skill and immense impact. The wolves coming in at the end perfectly conclude the horrors of this ultimate message that no one can be a living hero. Thanks for sharing, Bill. Debbie

So it ends with everyong dying as it should. This seems a fitting end to me. This is well written but brutal and only those with a taste for death and dying can actually admit to enjoying it. I only say it would take a lot a lot of talent to imagine something like this. You apparently have that.

Thanks for following this story you didn't like, Beth.

I'm glad I read it. I'm impressed. I might ever vote for it as story of the month, but I can't admit to enjoying blood and guts.

Oh no! Is that everyone dead???? Of course they are. What else could end your gory spectacular than a big grenade explosion. Brilliant, Bill. Reminds me of the end of 'Leon'. Brilliant film if you've not seen it. Thanks for reposting this for relative newbies like me.

What an incredibly action packed and enjoyable read. There is so much going on. I can't wait for the next instalment. You have built your characters well and your dialogue flows smoothly. Jacqueline

Thank you, Jacqueline. This ends Baker's Dozen. There's a follow-on story in my portfolio, but I don't know if I'll post it again as this one got fewer than a dozen readers per posting and few who had read anything else in the story.

Oh no. That's disappointing. I enjoyed it.

Hi Bill,
well, aren't I happy I stumbled onto this power-packed sequel of carnage?
There were passages that allowed a visual connect to series and movies I have seen in this genre... the ones you can watch, but dare not look away from... even that lone eye staring out from underneath the bodies of the dead.
There's so much going on here Bill and all I want to dive deeply into so the picture becomes clear.
Well composed and constructed... I will be looking forward to the next installment. All the very best in the Book of the Month contest... and hey((((, congratulations for being nominated in the first place... I can see why!
With our thoughts we create...
impossible outcomes.
Kind regards,
James,

Thank you, James, for the great review. This first ran a couple years ago, when it may have been on that list.

Are they all dead? Is Conner dead? He's the one I want to be. But Baker and Joseph, and Tim, I want to be alive. I'm glad I've more to read. This is such a great story, Bill. Well done. Off I go again. :)) Sandra xxx

I thought it time to use this creeping mass of human flesh for something. This seemed to fit the bill. Of course, there has to be a sequel.
Comment from Stephen Force
This was well written clear. and concise. The fact that Bends was there and in possession of his own faculties was a surprising twist. Connors summation in his final moments tied everything together. There is one question left unanswered, Does Tim Bends survive, and to what end? Good luck with the contest.

Thanks for the review, Stephen. ?Termination? was the final chapter of BAKER?S DOZEN. I?ve started a sequel, ASSASSIN NATION with the chapter, ?Aftermath?. This will be both a continuance of the present day, as well as provide flashbacks for Connor in his story line, which includes all that happened on his end that the heroes of the first story didn?t know.

I like this fantastic scenarios of these genetically modified men, able to live two hundred years and could withstand far more than the average man can withstand, and still survive. The fact that Tim Bends charred body was able to rise and fire an arrow at Connors, hit him in the chest with an attached grenade was proof of that. Well done, an action episode to match super heroes was written here. Well done, good reading, blessings, Roy
