Interesting generational poem that compares actions, body types, wishes and relationship in a very soft way. It is fun to wonder. I found it easy to read, enjoyed it.

She WILL take your hand one day, Christine, because she's learning right now from you that that is the way you treat your loved ones. You plant corn, you get corn. This is a beautiful poem. I hope you do well in the contest. xo

A wonderful Cinquain. It looks like a winner to me. I often think of this as the circle going around. I became my mother's mother as she aged and she became her daughter's daughter. A touching piece. Marilyn

That's so true! When I visit my parents, my dad likes to lean on me and use me for balance. I guess there will be a time for us to lean on others, too. Well done cinquain, Christine!

Hi Helen. Thank you so much and yes This random thought came to me as I was thinking about this contest and I hope she will hold my hand she will. Getting old is so filled with issues like balance etc However I am pleased to have you review Cheers Christine

Good luck in the contest Christine. Your words addressed a concern that I think we all face as we grow older and more fragile. Will our off spring care as much for us as we grow older as we do for our elders or as we did when they were young. Well done.

A poem that will speak to many in our "sandwich" generation. It hurt to see my Mom go into some other place with dementia. It just doesn't feel right to be mother to your mother. Now I reach the higher age and wonder who will guide me. We have only four sons. Good sons, but not given to care-giving I think.

Hi Gail, Thank you and I am sure your sons will help if needed. I saw another woman the other day hand in hand with her mother and I thought I do that and I am sure my daughter may do also but hopefully not for a good few years yet I am only 66 still working and quite fit .Cheers Christine

Thing is our boys are all full time busy - only two daughter/laws might be of help. One family has 6 kids - full time job. Two of the boys work 160 miles away - they come home weekends. Well, God knows. anyway - like your poem and the picture with it too.

Hi Chrissy,

I can relate to this message. My kids are too busy with their own lives to worry about me. When they do come for a visit, they are anxious to leave after five minutes. Woe is me.

This is a good contest entry. Best wishes with it.

Joy xx

Hi Joy,cThanks for reading my cinquain for this contest. I often take Mums hand especially crossing the road and down a busy footpath. She is pretty independent but does need help quite often She is scared of falling. I visit Mum a lot now she is older and enjoy her company. Tell your sons of your concerns sometimes kids just dont see the signs. ( Why do we live in such a busy world often no time for anyone annoying really. ) Cheers Christinexx

My daughter accompanies me when I go to the Doctor. She links arms and helps me as we walk along and I need the support. I am so grateful to have been blessed with such loving, giving children always there to make their mother's life better. Well done Chrissy.Nancy:)
