So true, Connie. It's a shame isn't it. Going to the mall used to be a wonderful outing, shopping, a bit in the food court, just people watching. Another era gone. With the electronic age, we are having to cope with a whole new way of life. Marilyn

Thank you, Marilyn, for your review. I remember, as a kid, there weren't any malls, at least not where I lived in California. Then the mall arrived, and I thought it was wonderful. Oh well, so much for change . . .
Thanks again. Hope you are doing well.

Jobs are disappearing on many fronts. It is a sad reality.
What are Americans supposed to do? Well they could get
jobs building the wall so illegal Alien's would no longer be available to work for less money. Americans will probably become maids, butlers, gardeners and chauffeurs for all the rich who are taking over the country. Soon they will be electing a King. Just imagine. Or maybe they will be busy delivering the Amazon packages. What? LOL Nancy:)

I really enjoyed reading your feedback, Nancy, especially the part about Americans becoming servants to the rich who are taking over the country. Or maybe they will "be busy delivering Amazon packages."
I always like hearing from you my friend. Thank you!

Hi Connie :)
Your poem is great - reads smoothly and addresses a sad and frustrating situation.
I'm afraid to report, it is the same state of affairs here too.
On line shopping is taking it's toll on the high street stores.
In fact, I've actually been shopping in a department store recently and when I wasn't able to find what I was looking for, the staff in the store said to me - check our online store, they have a better selection!
I like to try before I buy though...
Best wishes to you as always, Debra :)

Thank you, Debra, for your thoughtful review. I agree with you that I, too, like to try something on before I buy it.
I wonder what the future holds for your children and my grandchildren when it comes to buying things.
    Thanks again.

A very well-written poem about the fate of American Malls that seem to close down because of online shopping. Here in South Africa it is still the place to go for a day of shopping and eating.

Thank you, Sandra, for your review. I'm glad to hear that at least somewhere, in South Africa, people still go out for a day of shopping and eating. What has happened to face-to-face communication?
    Thanks again.

Yes, you are right about the demise of malls. It's happening all over. I enjoyed your poem, Connie. Good job on the rhyme, the flow, and the true message. We are being overtaken by electronic shopping. Window shopping was fun, meeting friends for a coke in the Food Court was, too. Our mall held a movie theater. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Thank you, Jan, for your excellent review and for commenting on the status of malls today. They are indeed on the decline, but who knows---perhaps someday they will be all the norm again. I don't recall there be any malls when I was a little girl.
    Thanks again.

Quite an enjoying read! You put into words the thought of many people wondering where the world we once knew has disappeared. Yes convenience reigns and it's very true that Amazon has taken over the shopping world, but I will miss hanging out in the mall and just being with friends. Keep up the good work!

"Sad but accurate." So said my wife after I read your poem aloud. She went to an indoor mall this morning to walk and saw exactly what you've described. I like the easy cadence of your quatrains and am pleased you chose ABCB rhyming.

That is very well written and without -forcing- rhymed poem. The down effect is the loss of jobs. Your words are clear and well paced.

This was a good write, Connie C. You're correct, so many of the malls are losing a lot of the tenants thanks to online shopping. A further cocoon for society. Good job.

Hi Connie,

This is a very nicely written poem and speaks volumes. A sign of the times, sadly.

Nothing here for me to suggest improving upon in your verse.

Thanks so much for sharing.

Jan
