Hello DD,
You've written an excellent 5-7-5 poem and entry for the contest.
A group may be called a murder, but the raucous cries
may be reason enough for murder of crows.
Nice word play here.
Well done
Good luck in the contest
Robert

Comment from Pam (respa)
-Good artwork and presentation, DD.
-The syllable count is good, and the
use of alliteration is effective, as well
as the imagery.
-The concluding line is a good one
for the play on words.
-Good luck in the contest.

Comment from LisaMay
Your poem is delightful in its simplicity and clever use of title.
Some people love to hate crows, even murder them. It seems strange to me that 'murder' is an English term for a group of crows. I find them to be cunningly intelligent, but yes, indeed they do have unsociable habits of driving away other birds.

You write what I feel about blasted crows! They are devious and deadly to our wild birds. They steal eggs from nesting birds and make a terrible noise to boot! Well done.

K, Thank you, thank you for your wonderful six stars and for your appreciation of my short poem. I do find the crow loud in their cries and very distracting when outside walking or trying to write. They are a bird with their wits about them as they certainly are clever. Warm hugs ~DDx
Comment from Kathleen Washnis
Crows can be pretty loud critters! We even had crows on the news channel a few years back as there were so many in our area taking over! (Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds!) I like your title Foul Play and how you say a murder of crows!

Comment from Sandra du Plessis
A very well-written 5-7-5 poem about the crows that seem crowded on the telephone line while the cries out in their loudest voices for everyone to hear from far.

do like your unusual use for the crows' collective word!
raucous definitely is their attribute sound
black and centered text are good choices to accompany your illustration
I very much like your title as a descriptor of your verse but I would consider modifying your middle line to:
"as evidence of fowl play --" to my incorporate the same play on words
good luck for your contest entry

Thank you Mark. I appreciate your comments and for taking the time to review my short poem. The collective word for crows is 'murder of crows' so I cannot take credit for that. Regards ~DD
Comment from Heather Knight
Foul play indeed! Very funny...
I have always found the expression 'murder of crows' surprising together with 'parliament of owls' and other peculiar ones.
Thanks for sharing your lovely little poem.

Thank you Maria JG, your comments are much appreciated. It is strange how the collective words for birds have come about. Very interesting is the 'parliament of owls' I think too. Have a great weekend. ~DD

This is clever and well worded. Your 5-7-5 looks to be in perfect form to me and I love the image. So many crows on a wire. Amazing how they can do that. Much luck in the contest. Marilyn
