Coffee in my house. Sometimes we just need a little quiet time with our coffee or our tea but the little spoon and the cup can sometimes make a lot of noise. You did a great job

lol, my husband and I can relate to this poem, sometimes we can be apart for awhile while I write. It uses good imagery and sound sense and calls us into white space at the making of tea. Enjoyed your Cat Stevens spoon song, too as well as this poem.

LOL So glad you can relate. ;)
I added the author notes later. Spoonshadow just kept playing in my min. Glad you had fun with that.

HAHAHAHA. Spoon shadow! This is hilarious. And if this version of the Cat Stevens song continues to play in my mind throughout the night, you are in BIG trouble, Buddy. I like the photo you chose, too.

Ha Rachelle I hope it hasn"t haunted you. Norwegian Wood by the Beatles does that to me. Lol. Oh hell why did I mention it?

I got lucky finding that photo.

    Thank you so much Rachelle.

    Much appreciated

Nope; you're in luck this time, John! I hope yours didn't haunt you the rest of the day, either.

-I really like the image.
-I like your parody, too!
-The syllable count in your
poem is good.
-The imagery is good, and
shows the effects of making tea.
-It appears to be a lonely sound,
since the spoon is only striking one cup.
-I like the ending, as it ties in
to the first line.
-Good luck in the contest.

I understand your meaning. It would feel like you're being ignored when she makes only one cup. Love the photo with such a beautiful cup and saucer.

Very good - this poem could go many ways. Stirring a lonely cup of tea. Are you gone away already - is she fixing it for you - she's sworn off tea. So many ways.
Nice.

I liked this little poem very much. First, it creates a clear image and a strong mood all at the same time. A few well-chosen words can do that. Second, I liked the way you didn't tell, so much as show what the narrator was feeling, and we are right there with him in total empathy. I loved it. Good luck in the contest.

A very interesting 5-7-5. I think there are lonelier sounds than spoon tinkling on a teacup, but I get your theme. It makes a statement of oneness, not twoness. Marilyn

Hi there,

I'm just going to judge the poem and NOT the parody of Cat Stevens.

The lonely spoon is sad. I had a good friend who I would have tea with each afternoon before my children arrived home from school. She always used just one spoon for us, and then gave it to me to stir in the honey I could have, and she couldn't.

She hated that lonely spoon,

Thank you for sharing your poem and great picture of a teacup,

~Mustang Patty~

Patty thank you for sharing your memories with me. As a writer it brings me great joy when my words touch someone like this.
Your friend sounds like a beautiful person.

I am glad you liked the picture I found to complement the poem. I was very lucky to find it.

As for Cat Stevens. He was an afterthought I added in the footnotes later for a bit of fun.

Thank you for your kind words and sharing your very personal story with me. I t means a lot and I shall never forget it.

    All the very best

Delightful! I smiled, well, quietly, from beginning to end! Very enjoyable. Thanks. I look forward to finding more of your talent. Do you write only poetry, or maybe stories? Very picturesque wording.
