It's not a point so much as a perfect circle.

You've done a great job unfolding the course of life from the carefree days of youth up into the Golden Years. In our youth, we never thought we would grow up fast enough. When we got there, a rude awakening occurred. It wasn't everything that we had hoped it would be. Thanks for sharing this trip back down memory lane. Well done!

Thank you, Jeffrey; you totally get the gist of what I was trying to convey. Thank you for that. (It's always nice to be understood in this life, right?!) I appreciate this warm and thoughtful review.

Thank you, Roy. Every period of life is delightful for its own sake - and maybe made even sweeter as we look back on those times. I appreciate your warm and encouraging review very much. xo

Hello,
This is an excellent prose poem/story of the circle of life.
Each arc of the circle has its great points,
but the it returns to the beginning, just like a circle.
Well done
Good luck in the contest, laugh and play.
Robert

Thank you, Robert! You totally 'get' what I was trying to say here. (And what is the point of being a writer, after all, if not to connect with the readers!) So thank you for the validation and this warm, thoughtful review. I appreciate it very much. xo

-Good artwork and presentation.
-The imagery, rhyme, and meter
create a smooth flow in your poem.
-I like how it progresses chronologically.
-The image in verse one about
laughing and playing is a good one.
-I also like the verse about the children.
-The conclusion is a good one and
shows how the Golden Years can
be filled with joy, too!
-Good luck in the contest.

There is always that "do what's right for you" and hopefully it is the right thing to do. I think you have an outline here for a good life and it would be so nice if all could feel that they have followed your words and that when they reach the end, they can say, "I have known sweet bliss". Best wishes.

I love this saying: Live your life well, and that way, when you're old and looking back on it, you can enjoy it all over again.

Thank you for this very sweet and considerate review, Victor. You always have the nicest way of brightening my day with your words. xo

I really like the illustration with the Venn diagram showing overlapping phases of life, and I liked the flow of your poem from youth to old age. I wish you had given concrete examples of each phase that I could relate to.

Hi, LRuth, and welcome to FanStory!
I've been a member only since January, so I'm new to the site, too. One thing I learned after my first couple of reviews - Like you, I'd given "average" as the rating on them -- is that the star system is based on accuracy of form and grammar and punctuation, not 'personal preference.' So if a piece you're reviewing is spelled correctly throughout and the words used are correct and it fulfills the parameters of that genre (for example, if it's a Haiku, and stays true to the 5-7-5 syllables-per-lines rule) then, it's not less than a five, even if you didn't particularly like the content. You can give a sixth star when a piece really "speaks" to you - when you find it exceptional.

I'll look forward to reading your creations soon, I hope.

Beautiful story in a poem, this was something that I could really enjoy as I am on the same journey as the poem and in the final stages of it. So I look back on all the ways I had viewed my purpose. The refocus is hard throughout especially after the kids go. I think I cherish Poet your last lines the most as they are speaking to my soul! Good luck in the contest!

The various points of life - so nicely and accurately explained in your poem. And you showed how it becomes a circle in the end - interesting! Thanks for sharing and all the best in the contest.

Thank you, Geetha. The fussbudget in me loves neat, tidy things like perfect circles. I appreciate your thoughtful words about this poem, and thank you for the well-wishes in the contest, as well. xo

An interesting reflective discourse on our changing priorities through life's seasons.
I certainly agree with your analysis.

I feel you almost certainly had to try very hard NOT to title this "The Meaning of Life" and take on personal responsibility for answering the oldest, toughest and most controversial of questions. I don't blame you one bit.

Yeah, that would take me into the Dalai Lama's territory, and I thought that might be a bit over my head...

Thank you for this very nice review, Bill. xo

Very well written and so very true. I find this poem to be expressing what I am going through right now. I just seem to want to just enjoy what I want to now and it would be so sweet. I hope it goes on a while longer too. Thanks for sharing.
