Wow, Sally, this is a stark flash fiction story that has a frightening aspect. This is death sentences on assembly. A lack of fair trial and a proper defence. Two milestones in the judicial system being disregarded. I do hope it hasn't quite come to this as yet. I have a law degree and it goes against everything I believe in. A shocking and very well written flash story. Good luck in the contest. All best. Ulla:)))

Thank you, Ulla dear. I am glad you could appreciate my article. It goes against everything I believe in, too. That?s why it is so frightening.
All my best to you and yours,

HELLO SALLY: "I BELIEVE," that, "JESUS OUR LORD," is our example in, "ALL THINGS." What's a sufficient answer for, Pontius Pilate, is sufficient for any judge that our Lord ever let budge. The entire correction was in, "JESUS' RESURRECTION." Thank you for sharing, Sally. God bless you and yours. Cordially: rhonnie69.

Your story rings true Sally. I know first hand there are no more morals for their value is greed. No one wants to speak up for most people are bought. Many look the other way. I see the smoke like lawyers see the dollar sign. We are living in a society where there is no justice in justice. Good entry for the Flash Fiction contest.

Thank you so much for the excellent review and deep, insightful comments. Our justice seems less and less just and more about political intrigue and gain. This really is not far from reality for those with faith and values.

This really makes you think how the righteous will be seen as wrong and the immoral will be hailed as right. These are the days we are living in; a very sobering thought. But Jesus said in this world you will have persecution but be of good cheer, I've over come the world! I like how you picked a candle representing light as it is surrounded by darkness.

Thank you dear Kathleen. You are always so spiritually perceptive and outspoken for your faith. This was a bold short flash fiction but one that needed to written. This courtroom scene is not that far fetched. I saw the candle photo on FanArt and knew it would be perfect.

I think this is a good story for the Flash Fiction contest.
Your story is clear and easy to follow, well told in so few words.
The subject makes one think, doesn't it?

It will come in time for the blade is laid at the foot of the tree. Who am I not to accept my father's gift. For I am only clay, like a cloud soon to dissipate into my utopia. My blessings dear writer.

Thank you so much and possibly the most poetic and deep review ever. You should do a response follow up to mime and say this again for all to read. Quite profound. It seems closer than many realize.

Sally, I admire your gift for capturing the problems in society so succinctly. You are holding up that light. The picture is perfect for the work - hope you win!

My whole life, I never imagined such a day would loom as a real possibility not far off. For that to happen, though, the American populace would have to be totally disarmed in advance (lest a second revolution occur), just as Hitler did in Germany before going after the Jews and others he deemed unworthy of life. Some widespread calamity would be required as an excuse for the Martial Law under which searches and seizures normally disallowed could occur.

Unarmed conservatives then would be intimidated into silence, in hope of avoiding attention, while biding time until they could effectively overthrow the oppressors. Yet, modern surveillance technology, well beyond George Orwell's dreadful scenario, might render such anonymity impossible. Of course, any conservatives who either were considered "thought leaders" or just remained vocal would be seized. Under such circumstances, there would be few (if any) places to hide.

Jews, religious or not, likely would be rounded up too -- with the possible exception of those secular few who had long enough ago joined the oppressing side to be trusted by them (such as George Soros, who, under his birth name, in his late teens served Hitler in his assigned task of taking property from Jews being sent to concentration camps).

Militant Muslims might initially be glad to help capture Christians and Jews; but, once that is accomplished, ALL Muslims may be rounded up too, as they are also religious and not likely to convert to the secular political "religion" the globalists plan on substituting for all real religions still existing today.

Ironically, if the Muslims allied with the Christians and Jews to thwart that globalist plot, perhaps the three Abrahamic faiths could coexist in peace thereafter.

Your superb post is certainly thought-provoking, and the wax candle is a good metaphor for freedom's light dwindling amid encroaching darkness of intolerance.

Thank you for the outstanding review and very insightful comments. I believe America is progressing to a faithlesss, godless society, just like Germany. We even think it is okay to exterminate the unborn, what is next. History does repeat ie,f if we refuse to learn from it. The candle is as you have perceived, freedom?s dwindling light.

You are most welcome, Sal. Yes, "progressing" -- pun intended -- is the ironic word.

What is happening in New York, Virginia, and other unnamed states regarding babies born alive after failed abortions or even mere decisions that they were unwanted is atrocious. Legalizing murder does NOT make it moral. Passing such legislation says a lot about those in public office involved.

All this makes me think some major disaster will have to occur to cleanse the world of such people. If Noah were building his ark today, they'd probably jail him and either burn it before it could be launched, on the grounds that it would be socially unjust to save only a few, or (more likely) commandeer it for whoever was currently deemed the most elite and worthy. (That's what the huge complex under the Denver airport and other underground facilities secretly built with our tax dollars all over the country are for -- no ordinary citizens allowed.) -- Mike

"The death penalty it is."

The gavel came down hard.

"Next in line."

Genuine is your writing. Once they admit which is very rare, the judge wants to get the guy or lady out of his sight. Bang go away guilty. Very nice. Terry
