This is such a nice poem, Yvonne. The image caught my attention right away. It is delightful to see a colorful garden and I'm looking forward to springtime. Nicely done. Marilyn

Me, too. I just got a new deck with a roof, and I'm so excited!

Sounds wonderful. Enjoy it.

My wife set out all manner of flowers, and now they look like weeds, and none of
them ever had the beauty of a field of goldenrod in bloom, or even the violets or yellowtop. As long as it is me making the call, her hydrangeas and spider lilies and backhouse lilies will be there among the weeds...looks like a fine quatern for potlatch to me...

Goldenrod is beautiful. I say every year I'm going to plant some.

Lovely Quatern Yvonne, about the weeds? the flowers? It's funny I've found it can depend on the area some plants we nurtured when living in southern Aus. in the north are classed as dreadful weeds. Lovely flow and great rhyming n your chosen form,
cheers,
valda

A wonderfully written Quatern that espoused the truth about flowers and weeds. In fact, they all are lovely, and their nature is in the eye of the beholder. Your poetic transition of the repeated refrain (slightly modified), was smoothly carried out.

Thank you. I always appreciate your comments.

I loved this. I guess it's just how you look at things, whether you see a flower or a weed. I think it also works like that for people. A thought provoking piece, thanks for sharing.

You are so right. Thanks for reviewing.

Well crafted and enjoyable read. Expresses what some may consider a failure is actually an accomplishment. "Weeds" to some are "flowers" to others.

Hello Yvonne,
I like these French forms with the rolling line;
they depend much upon the repeat line
and yours is very good.
"All flowers once were called a weed" can be applied to other things, too.
All poets could once barely read.
Excellent picture to match.
Well done.

Thank you. I like your line about the poets. So true.

-Nice image and presentation.
-I like your poem and
the repeating line.
-The imagery , rhyme,
and meter create a smooth
flow for the poem.
-I like the background of
the weed in verse one.
-You show how these
weeds are now "considered debonair."

This is a lovely quatern that conveys an important message about
weeds--and people, I think. I've read that SO many famous, productive people were once called failures!

Hi Yvonne, I believe you're right. There are so my wild flowers as I suppose we call them that have such beauty and have eventually become treasured breeds. I loved your poem. All best. Ulla:)))
