I didn't do well in the contest so I'm wondering if maybe you mixed me up with another poster..anyways I was curious and ended up reading several of your poems..and three I reviewed ..Yes I like your style and your frankness and your flare of optimiism.
    ciao!

This is a really great contest entry ... historical and thought-provoking. Nothing a youngster could begin to image, but reminding us older folks how life existed or not (WWII, your example) before the cell phone invention.

Well when I was a kid I couldn't believe when my grandfather ( in the Hague ) told me they didn't have fridges during his childhood and that there was a service in the city that brought hot bath water to the houses in the 30/40s.

Glad you appreciated how I approached this contest .. I tried to do something different.

Kids have no idea about how many things were 'back in the day'. Some would find it hard to cope if they had to go back to those days. Thanks for an enjoyable poem.

Thank you Judy , I'm glad you liked the poem.

I got my first laptop for Christmas in 2010 .

It's very useful to have the world at one's fingerprint but I did manage even before .

I would not like to grow up in this cold and impersonal society despite all its advantages.

Hello there, I love this contest entry for the cell phones, it has a great flow to it telling a nice story. Today these kids find it unfathomable to imagine life without a cell phone. lol. So, crazy. I love how you took the story back into another era of time.
Good luck! ~Kerry

So cute! It's hard for the young to comprehend life without all those gadgets. I love to watch the old TV shows and movies in which the characters have to frantically search for a phone booth. Excellent presentation and word choice. Best of luck in the contest. judi

    Ciao Judi!

Yes every new generation as children think that what they have was always there.

Having a mobile can save lives now ..on the other hand we have become slave to it also... I got my first mobile Christmas 2010.

My cousin was in visit from Australia and she said I couldn't live in the dark ages anymore so she gave me her old Nokia.

Got my first PC that same Chritmas .. My friends bought a small one for me..

Nice to hear you and thanks for the kind review!

I love this! Being a teen in this "screen-era" honestly makes me sad. Everyone "lives" behind a screen or phone. The simple things in life that make living truly living, such as person-to-person interaction or even simply appreciating nature are looked at like a burden or less important than how many followers they have or friends of facebook.

You are the exception to the rule ..

I was not interested in blending in .. My cousin in visit (Christmas 2010) said I had to stop living in the dark ages and she gave me her old Nokia.

I got that same Christmad my first PC..

It is great to have the world at one's finger tip but I do realises the negative part..

In my days it was the TV ..kids sat in front of TV for hours instead of being outside in the fresh air playing .

    It was a pleasure sharing
I hope you enjoy your Sunday ..Spring is in the air hopefully !

A gentle reminder of how much our children take for granted. Great pics to accompany the write. The rhyme is good albeit a little random at times but does not detract. Nice write. Cheers - DJ

Yes I agree the last part does n't rhyme completely but the in the requirements specifics were not given ..it just said "write a poem"

I made a collage from 4 separate pictures , it took some time but seeing you wrote "great pics" the hassle was worth it.

I remember when I was young , I was left a bit disorientated finding out that there were no TVs and fridges when my father was a child .

I found it hard to imagine life without them.

Idem today our children think that all this modern devices where there in our time too.

Thanks for sharing ..and for the 5 star vote!
    Ciao!
