Hi there,
It is true that different forms of writing do NOT come naturally to everyone. I'm sure you do have a nitch where you can write just about anything and feel comfortable.
Thank you for sharing your story within the lines of a Valentine poem.

This tickled me, because I'm the same way. Since I have a celibate lifestyle for decades, I'm not one to celebrate valentine's day. Romantic love pales in comparison to unconditional divine love, which is the ideal I admire.
Enjoyed the wit here:
It sounded trite and not quite right.
It dingled-not, my bell.
Love the slant rhymes here:
Romantic poems are not my thing,
I find them really tough.
Sincerity does not pour forth,
just mushy, slushy stuff.
Chuckling (and nodding),

You have written a delightful poem about not being able to write a Valentine poem.
Who needs another "mushy, slushy" one. " It dingled-not my bell" with its mocking
tone is very clever. Keep writing Valentine poems!

I am with you Debra, I too cannot or don't enjoy writing romance poems. I had a wonderful marriage, but those days are long passed. I guess romance for me has lost its passion.
