HELLO CINDY WARREN: I like your posting here. It gives me a chance to say this to you. Remember: Along with sunshine...comes a little rain sometimes. "WHY?" Because..."To everything there is a season...a time for every purpose under heaven."ECCLESIASTES chapter 3...and at verse 1...in your Holy Bible. Remember: There are some forms of life out there that could not survive if were not for our winter season. Our God loves us all equally. And He always provides for all of us what we need to survive. And He knows exactly what that is...and when it is needed. Thank you for sharing, my sister. Our God loves you...and so do I. Cordially: rhonnie69.

Thanks. Of course I know we need the winter. Canada has many beautiful animals that wouldn't survive in the tropics. I just don't always like it. My car really dosen't like it. But it will get better. Spring will come.

This is an inspiring poem about not-so-inspiring topic. The images of Spring are even more potent in a blustery winter that seems to never end. Well written, it warms the heart.

Hi Cindy,

I hear you loud and clear.

Although I'm not in the North this winter, I've been there. The -40 wind chills are no fun. (Gawd, I hated that feeling of instant frozen nostrils and jeans stiff as a board in like 2 seconds.)

On the up side, think of it this way: you'll be able to breathe normally this summer, whereas people with warm weather now will need oxygen tanks or fish gills to assimilate the humid, horrid, hot air.

...Just a thought.

Your poem flows very nicely and the image you've selected is absolutely gorgeous and is effective in conveying your intended message. (I have a "Mr. Cardinal" who pecks on my window when he's hungry - lol.)

Thanks for sharing your great work.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed my poem. I'm hearing from a lot of people who can relate. I hear it's freezing all across the country and the northern U.S.

You wrote very enjoyably about the impact of winter on everyone, on everything, as we all yearn desperately for the return of warmth to our lives, and the other beauties that spring will bring. I loved the personal touches in the poem.. such as the flat tire, cuddling the cat, and eating spring rolls. (Are there winter rolls??) And the cardinal photo is gorgeous.

Thanks. I don't know if there are winter rolls. Or summer or autumn rolls. LOL I'm glad I was stuck at home with the cats and not on the side of a road somewhere.

Yes indeed. We should always be grateful because things can definitely be worse.

Thanks. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Being at home with my cats isn't so bad. I'm glad I wasn't stranded on the side of the road.

This is a great poem about the woes of winter. The words are simple but give birth to images of your wish and your last stanza is very creative and problem solving in poetry. Well written and a joy to read. I love the picture; the cardinal is our state bird.

Have a great evening.

A lovely poem which brings back memories for me; the joy of strolling through the snow with the dogs and the annoyance of having to change a tire with freezing fingers. Winter woes, but also dreams of springtime (even spring rolls) blend into a most enjoyable poem. Best wishes, Peter

Winter woes have so severely touch so many of our people this year as the polar vortex touched the land with fury. May your week be blessed. Patricia

Well I certainly can relate because I'm here in it and it never seems to stop, not even for a minute, first the Ice then the snow then the wind keeps a blowin and when it might stop we are sure never knowin. so we think and we type and we hope and we write to ignore the damn weather and hope we can find poems to pull us together, for life in the winter needs a place safely inside where our minds can create and our angers can hide, with thoughts bright and shiny as the sun always warms and we hope we can enjoy it before the rain storms. Then perhaps we will discover some thoughts to express before the sky changes and turns to a mess. So now I am delighted to share my good will as my sky has gone bright and the wind has gone still, now maybe I shall find some words for these blank pages to fill. My puppy is sleeping my neighbors are gone the TV is turned off and it's coming to dawn. That's when iam best at making words rhyme; as I can lay back and just take my time. Then words and thoughts can get down to work and maybe I shall find some that wont make me look like a jerk. so let us begin now with the Poetic delivery before the evening chill makes my fingers all slippery! Ok we all know that the quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dogs back but you probably did not know that the drunk at the bar gave the fox one hell of a whack! Like so many stories we think we shall remember but I'll bet you cant even remember the words to the song of the great pretender! OK so what's the point I can now hear you're thinkin and no!, by the way, I have really not been drinkin! I am very clearly simply, wingin' it you might say; for I wish to deliver this message today. I'ts rare indeed to do what I'm doin' but it's a hellova lotbetter than just sitting her stewing!
You see, I just love Poets and Poetry, but I really don't believe in strict rigidity! for it surely can defeat pure creativity. Once that is gone the game is lost and cannot recover at any cost! so I've gone out of bounds of commonality to express a point that I hope you will see! Poetry is a screen of immense dimension that provides a place for your mind's extension! Limits are logical to those of good intent that really do care where and how your message is to be sent, while vulgarity,
insult, hatred; and sin are never wise choices for them to begin. So here on FANSTORY the door is widely open and many await the richness of you mind, so please indeed be helpful and kind! there's a window here where the light's always on and you can have joy from daylight till dawn! I hope you will reach deeply inside of your mind to lead others to always be helpful and kind! HIS GRAYNESS; Vance

Wow, thanks for the six! I didn't expect it for this one, and I really enjoyed reading your review. Glad to know you aren't drunk, and tho I hate to admit it, I do remember the song 'The Great Pretender.'
