Hi Melissa, for someone who loves snow as much as I do...this gave me chills...it is so magically beautiful...compares to a field of beautiful colored flowers in the Spring, the sight of freshly grown green grass on a Summers day...and the beauty of rusty color leaves falling in Autumn...amazing...I love your poem my sweet friend...and love your beautiful picture...love you...Linda xxoo

This is lovely, Melissa! I picture a winter wonderland where trees lulledto sleep in the forest above hibernating critters.
These woods in pristine white are robed and gowned
preparing for a long abiding sleep
when snowfall sings a song of whispered sound.
You are quite an artist with words!

I think I read this rhyming amazing rhyming poem 3 to 4 times before I review it. It so pleasant, so beautiful, unbelievable the rhyming took my breath away. Please vote for that poem to win the contest. I would. Good luck. Terry xoxo

Terry, I so sincerely thank you for reviewing this Villanelle. It is one of the hardest forms I have written and has so many moving parts that it was a chore. Thanks for your encouraging review on this verse.

What a beautiful poem, so well-written, descriptive. It painted a vivid picture of winter in the readers mind. I especially love the part of bare willows. It made me view the follage differently, made them seem like more than just plants. Great job.

Hi, Melissa,
This is a great entry in the Rhyming Poetry contest. With the repeating lines, we are drawn into the quiet of the wood - as the 'soft flakes fall from the sky to frozen ground.'
Thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest,

Hello, Patty!! Thank you very much for the lovely review... this Villanelle was difficult to create and I will think twice before I try one again. Haha. Much appreciated!

I really enjoy the Villanelle form and especially so if artfully created.
I am an Aussie who has never experienced snow so it is wonderful to
have my senses heightened by wonderful word imagery, great repeating lines and a fine presentation.
good luck.
Blessings

A very well-written Vilanelle, it was a great pleasure and joy to read a longer poem from you. As I mentioned before it is always great to read more well chosen words to sketch the full picture.

This is a beautiful-sounding poem and I love all the lovely snow images that you have painted from the woods that are "gowned" and the snow's song of "whispered sound." Really well done and I think you'll do well in the contest!

Thank you very much, Helen. It was very tricky to create this Villanelle. I doubt I will write another one very soon. Haha. Much appreciated

Comment from Gloria ....
Very lovely Villanelle, Melissa. I particularly like the line about the bare willows holding back their tears because their leaves are gone in winter. The sizzling sound of falling snow is one of my favourite winter sounds, so you got me right off.
Your metre is spot on and rhymes too and I look forward to more. :)
