Great contest entry you've created with this poem.
And, in feng shui as well as human psychology, it makes perfect sense to have one's back "covered" - be facing anything incoming.
I don't see anything amiss here requiring revision. Your poem conforms to the requirements and flows nicely.

This poem goes perfectly with a count-down requirement. I do know some people have to know what is going on at all times but this gives the sense that something is afoot. You are checking the exits for an escape route. Are you a spy?.. Someone on the run? Maybe I shouldn't have had two cups of French roast coffee before reviewing! Either way, I enjoyed this.
