This was an intense chapter, Sandra. It held my attention from start to finish. You did a great job detailing the search for the door, the way the patients acted, the setting, and the overall storyline. I felt as if I was right there in the basement with the people. Good job and thanks for sharing. Great cliff-hanger, too. Jan

Darn, Sandra. I could hear the flames, as I read this chapter... I felt the panic and desperation pouring out of Veronica and Mildred. You can really flipping write, young lady! Not that that was a surprise, don't take it the wrong way!!
But seriously, I felt their dread and terror.

Great job, Sandra!!!

I couldn't help, but I suddenly let out a sarcastic snort.

Great chapter my friend. Missing word in above sentence. Can't wait to see how Veronica manages to get help.

Thanks for spotting that, Diane, I've read it through and listened to it on 'Read Aloud' and never caught that. So weird! Thank you for reading and reviewing my friend, and thank you so much for the golden stars, my friend. . :)) Sandra xx

Another great chapter, I loved the bit about becoming smoked kippers. Wasn't sure about the word "frustratedly" in frustration maybe? That was the only thing that stood out. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Thank you, Rhonda, for another of your lovely reviews. You weren't the only one to mention 'frustratedly' so I've changed it now. That's the wonderful thing about FS, I get so much help for you all. Thanks, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

It seems that, like other previous episodes, there is little hope for rescuing the hospital populace, Veronica has used her powers to try and discover a way out for th people in distress. This is non stop excitement isn't it Sandra? A wonderful platform, you've certainly learnt how to shape episode endings my friend, well done, blessings, Roy

LOVED THIS!!!! Every word every turn of phrase. I LOVE mildred. You create and hold the tension though otu this piece so well done in all phases. Loved this bit.

"You're right. The porter must've missed it and we's gotta find it!" she hollered over her shoulder. "Them powers-that-flaming-be wouldn't have gone t' all this trouble t' get us t' evacuate the hospital, only t' turn us all into smoked kippers!"
JUst so well done.
Rob

It seems like the end, but it can't be. Between the two of them, Veronica and Mildred will find a way. Such tension. Good chapter as always. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Thank you so much, Yvonne, for you lovely review. I'm glad you enjoyed this part. Big hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

It was such sad news about dear Micky, wasn't it. I felt sick to my stomach when I read that he'd died. Does anyone know what caused it? I can't get him out of my mind.
reply by damommy on 03-Feb-2019
I can't either. No one has said, but I'm thinking a stroke. It will seem strange without him on FS.
reply by the author on 03-Feb-2019
That was my thoughts. Bless him. I'm sure he'll be right at home with the angels. I just feel as if something nice has disappeared from the site and left an empty hole.

Nice addition to the piece. You'd think Veronica would know better by now...

never finished the passageway to the underground - contract the to here.

and then as one person, they all turned and surged towards us, - perhaps insert a comma after then.

I felt a rush if optimism spur me on. - of rather than if here.

"It's no good, Miss Veronica. There's nobody there to hear us."- contract the 'to' here as well.

Now What? Think Veronica, think! don't think you need the capitalisation of what here.

The powers that be need to give them some help! Like maybe make someone else able to hear and see Veronica so they can unlock that door to save the patients and Mildred. This is a wonderful story.
