This is good stuff. I love Jazz and can feel the otherworldly netherworlds that seem to follow Dean around like hungry puppies. Your artwork is cool ... reminds me of album covers from another era. Very nice work here!

This was an impressive piece, Victortouche. Love the feel and the flow of this one. Nuggets of wisdom through the whole piece. Well done.

Dean's muse seems to encourage many poets. LOL I enjoyed reading this poem. It's amazing how it just emerged. This poem flowed well and the images it creates are very nice. Good write.

As I was reading this I was impressed by the formatting you chose to use. Then I was reminded of in days long ago being in a smoke filled night club with a jazz band playing and almost tearing up with the smoke in my eye making for a hazy view of the love I was with. Patricia

I read this a few times over because it spoke to me. I lived in fog as a child that drew me into this poem and reminded me of the times I sat watching the musicians set for their practice. Many a time, and just before a show. I would be sitting around just absorbing the atmosphere. Sometimes they would be working on a new piece of music in a smokey room where legends played. My Dad was a Vegas orchestra musician. He played for Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Red Skelton, Debbie Reynolds, and some other pretty cool cats. It was almost like he shadowed me as I was reading you. Flashes in time and a view from the Top of the Dunes hotel or the lights under the Sands appeared as I read this poem and they were heady times for sure. The poem was transformational and really took me on a ride both in sound and in thought. Thank you. Cheers, Fonda

Victor, I got the feeling I was being slowly drawn in with this poem, abducted into the smoky basement of days long gone.... and the music, I remember the music. A great choice of word and phrase to create the mood or this poem. Best wishes, Peter

"Hazy Faces", is an extremely well-written and deftly descriptive piece. This talented poet's work was a pleasure to both read and review. To me, this is a six, but unfortunately I only have fives left. I look forward to seeing your next post.

Victor--
Dean's Muse, would that be Dean Kuch? Where, where is his muse? I think, frankly, his muse sucks, so I want to know where it is in this poem. I mean, do you believe in muses, the kind that Apollo worked through? If so, why? And please give me a good reason why you do.

Thanks
Wabigoon/Jeff

Jeff, Jeff, Jeff. Why so worked up? Do we not both know the brevity of life should leave no time for this, eh? But...I'm happy to answer your interrogatives. Do I believe in Muses? Well, actually probably not. Still...fantasy, dreaming, wishing, hoping-all are good for creativity and the soul=I believe.

As to Dean...yes, Dean Kuch. I gave a nod to his muse out of a-muse-ment, nothing more. For I slightly stepped into his land, his genre, so to speak. I mentioned apparitions. Nether world. Etc. Just having fun my friend, as we all should have a bit more. Thank you for your review. Doug

    Victor--
I do believe in the Muses. Believe is the wrong word. Let's just say I know what Plath was talking about when she used the term, "Dark Muse." That's the reason for my questions and probably the reference to Kuch. Humor dulls the realm of these things but not the reality of them, their impact on us, the world. Thanks though for your nice response.

This poem, Hazy Faces, sort of forms as we drift down the page. It reminds the reader of how jazz is always new, with each successive visit.

Nice review. Several people have remarked on this "Jazz" feel to the poem. How wonderful for a writer. I wish I could claim credit. 'Twas not intentional. But...one does wear his feelings on his sleeve far more than any of us is aware of. Thanks.
